Here in Winnipeg the new arena is slated to open November 15. Anyone else think that there's a chance The Hip could be in town to open it up? All this talk of a tour in November and an ACC date around the 26th seems to point to them playing our new arena either on the opening date or somewhere around there.
I was thinking the same thing, I know the hip have opened a few arenas across canada.
What size rink is it? Are the Moose going to play there? What's the plan with the Old Yellow?
i would agree also...i am sure paul said beginning of november for edmonton(had alot of toxants & narcotics of the like in me)...so that would make sense on the canada tour....can`t wait for winter? :?

I think it's going to seat around 15,000 which is slightly less than the current arena, but ideal for an NHL team to return one day provided massive economic changes. The old arena is going to be torn down by the sounds of it and the new arena will be the home of the Moose.
I'm not a huge fan of the arena being downtown. It seems like the only way to get there is to take a bus which kind of sucks for those of us who aren't fans of public transportation.

London has a new arena too. Well about 1 year 1/2 ago..but I wonder if the hip will come to London and play the JLC? It would be nice to have a 5min drive for once! :thumb: Ahh not to mention the box!
The JLC would be a great place for the Hip to play. You would probably sell it out in a second or two. And with it only being 1-1/2 hrs from the T-Dot, lots of fans would make the trip!

I think the Moose get around 6 or 7 a game, I'm not too sure. I still can't get overly interested in them. :?
The seating size has drawn alot of speculation that it is built to one day be the home of an NHL team. I'm not one of the people that think the Jets are for sure coming back though. There's going to have to be huge changes for the NHL to work here. Not too many people are going to pay $60 to see Florida on a Wednesday night in the middle of January. Winnipeger's are notoriously cheap as it is...

Saskatoon has had a 16,000+ arena for many, many years now.

Saskatchewan Place was opened in February of 1988 with a seating capacity of around 7,800. It was expanded to 11,300 for the World Junior Hockey Championships in 1990.

Yeah I may have gone overboard a bit. If you fill fill up the floor for a concert though, you have between 13,000 and 14,000 easy. I've been to concerts in ever major arena in western Canada and Sask Place seems just as big. They just never bothered to complete the seating on the one end because they never attracted a hockey team.
