I've been purchasing CDs for as long as I can remember, and I've never, ever had any of the things reported in this article happen to me. I mean all of my Hip CDs have at one time or another begged for mercy but at last check, they were still in pristine condition (thankfully they haven't retired to go smoke pot in Asia like Ricky Williams). Has CD rot ever happened to anyone out there in Hipbase land?

I guess all the more reason to turn your music collection into MP3s or <insert favourite lossless format here> and hope that your hard drive never gets corrupted or stolen. Of course you could back it all up on CDs.....oh man, what a vicious circle!

i have had one case of cd rot, my copy of "a perfect way to kill an evening" by - At The Mercy Of Inspiration has started literally falling apart, so much so that i've decided to just let it sit in it's case, and i've DL'd the album and burnt a new copy.

I haven't had any of those things happen, either. Although, I treat my CDs as if they were my children, so most of my collection is in pristine condition. Even the ones I bought 10 years ago.

He's not kidding... every time we went to a concert he'd leave them with a babysitter and buy them souveneirs. If I hear: "Which T-shirt do you think my Pearl Jam collection would like best" one more time...

Haha! What can I say. When it comes to my CD collection, I'm extremely protective.

We see alot of cds that come into our store with cd rot. If they get wet or are in a humid place, they will get rot after time.
