I'm a huuuuge Dolphins fan... and never, not on my birthday, not during Christmas, not when there has been a death in the family, have I ever received as many phone calls as I did last night. I am completely shocked about the "retirement" of Ricky Williams. I still think he'll come out of retirement, probably not this season, but at some point. I mean Jordan did the same thing at a young age and came back. Ditka said he's going to try to talk Ricky out of his decision, because he says it's an awful lot of talent gone to waste.

What a strange offseason for the Dolphins. They got a great rookie lineman in Carrey and Boston still has so much potential, but they lost Norv Turner, their front office is all new and now Ricky's gone. (not to mention McMichael's still trying to keep his ass out of jail for beating his wife)

*sigh* and I just read the Sudbury back-stage posts that say the Hip aren't touring in Canada until November. SOMEBODY POST SOMETHING GOOD TO CHEER ME UP!!! hock:

Well, from what I hear, Britney Spears was supposedly caught walking down the street sipping on some of Grandpappy's Olde Cough Medicine. When caught, she laid the worst excuse I've heard in years; "It's ginseng, I swear." :wink:

I think the thread should be titled...The Best News I've Heard in Awhile!

When I saw "Ricky Williams to retire" across the ticker last night I had to smile. I mean it felt great to see those Miami fans take one on the chin.

Too bad Dolphins fans ...well, does one player change the outlook to the AFC East, probably not too much...but with the ground game taking a big hit like that and your starting QB being Jason Fiedler, I would definitely be concerned.

Well, I don't think this news will lessen the rivalry between Miami and Buffalo.

Ahh, Henry AND McGahee. Things sure are nice over here in Buffalo!

Training camp in just a week! Can't wait for the football talk to pick back up again...soon enough it will be September, opening week will come and the Dolphins will STILL SUCK IT UP!! :thumb:

I knew I wouldn't find many condolences in a forum consisting of primarily Canadians (not as interested in NFL) and northern Americans (often Buffalo or Jets fans).

Being completely honest, I loved Ricky when he played for Texas, I felt bad for him when he wasn't producing on the Saints and it was one of the happiest times in sports for me when I got to have him on the Dolphins. It's sad that he's retiring, but I think this is the best year for it to happen. More pressure is on Fiedler and Feeley and they will both be given opportunities to prove they belong as starters. This should mean that McMichael, Chambers and Boston should be happy (and Wilkins). Finally, as long as the defense continues to shine, I'd bet a lot of money that the Dolphins will return to the playoffs this year. :thumb:

Bills could have a good year with Mularkey at the helm. Hopefully my man Drew will get back to throwing the ball this year instead of spending the entire game on his ass.

Te only thing worse than the Dolphins, are the Jets. Suck it fins, suck it Jts!

I'm Canadian but I will talk football with you anytime you want. Best sport in the world. The CFL.....not so much.

I am a Pats fan though. The only shitty thing about your team winning two Super Bowls is that everyone automatically assumes you are on the band wagon. However, I am a huge Drew Bledsoe fan, but could not bring myself to change team allegiances when he was traded. I can post a photo of my 1998 season Drew Bledsoe Pats jersey to prove my lifelong devotion to the Pats, if need be. :lol:

I believe you... but only because I love Drew too. Even though he's only played for two of my most hated teams, I respect him a lot and think he's a terrific QB. Buffalo is lucky to have him... if only they would buy him an offensive lineman or two to show their appreciation.

BTW, I think Corey Dillon is gonna tank this year. Although it's still an improvement from Antoine Smith who I considered the luckiest player in the NFL to have a starting job last year, I don't think Dillon will be what Pats fans are hoping.

as a niners fan i have NOTHING to look forward to next season...the glory days are definately wayyyyy behind us...we lose garcia, owens and hearst all in one off-season...owens is a welcome goodbye, but i thought they got rid of him to make garcia happy...oh well...i just read they're abandoning the west-coast offence after 25 years as well....i really hope eddie george is past-it..i can't handle the cowboys doing better than the niners...

Come on now, you know you want to be a Bills fan, you've enjoyed 2 Super Bowl wins with the Pats...now join the other side. Bledsoe is gonna bounce back and it will be a blast rooting for a team that has been plagued by Super Bowl failure. We will be back there soon enough...Bledsoe, Losman (will be ready in a couple years), Henry, McGahee, Moulds, Evans, Reed, Shaw, Mike Williams, Fletcher, Spikes, Gildon, Schoebel, Pat Williams, Sam Adams, Clements, Milloy, Vincent, Moorman (best damn punter in the league)...
