I was able to meet the band once during the "An Evening" Tour in Rochester, NY. While I thought all of the guys were very gracious I could not get over what a genuinely nice guy Gord Sinclair was. I chatted with him for about 10 minutes about everything ranging from the tour to his golf game. I could tell that he really enjoys interacting with the fans. Does anyone else have any interesting face to face stories?
m@W Just came out and they played a free show at the water st. music hall in rochester. we stayed in a hotel in rochester the night before and the next morning we were heading to the lobby to check out and the elevator opens and its gord d, johnny fay, and paul langlois. Needless to say all 6 of us crammed in that elevator with our bags and coolers. I stepped on gord's foot. The start of a wonderful day.

Back to the original topic, BostonHipFan... yeah, i got the the chance to meet Gord Sinclair the other year (in Boston, ironicially)... Had an awesome 10 minute conversation with him. A highlight, no doubt. Certainly seemed like a great guy.

And years ago, met Gord Downie at the M@W video shoot. A bunch of us fans were just standing around talking, he walked down off the stage, over to us, and just introduced himself. Surreal.
End of the fall term.

Heading to school to drop off final assignment.

I get off the GO bus, when it used to stop on Front Street, and immediately recognize someone standing right at the stairs to Union subway. Except I don't know where he's from.

He sees me looking at him right away. smiles a bit, and gives, a nod, raising his coffee. To be polite, I wave back. Where the heck is he from??

I walk past him, about a foot away, and get to the bottom of the stairs. I stop. I think I know who he is, but I'm not sure. I look back up. He's standing there, he looks at me smiles, and goes back to viewing the street. That nose looks familiar.

I can't afford the time. Prof's gonna be gone and I'll have one less assignment handed in. I enter the station, and make my way to school.

Suddenly, out of nowhere, it hits me: Godon Downie. It was Gordon Downie, and he smiled at me, nodded, and raised his coffee.

That's the closest I've ever come, and the closest I ever will.
