i'm just wondering how many bands in the "biz" that you could see really diggin' the hip....i'm thinkin pearl jam.especially now that adam kasper has worked with them....i remember hearing the lead singer from everclear once saying how much he liked them....
Mr. Kreviatzuk has called Gord a genius a few times. I think they're envious to be honest.
They've got the pop, but I get the feeling they wish they had more serious credibility and respect.
I love OLP, but if you see Raine on television, he often seems subdued, if not reluctant when talking about the legacy or impact of his band.
But, yeah... back on topic: OLP are down with the H-I-P.
i can see them liking the hip..and you're right about raine...i don't really care too much for olp, but they put on a pretty good show when they want to..plus(let me become a total male here for a second..)..he's banging a pretty hot chick!!!
I think The Stereophonics like The Hip...I really like their version of Fiddler's Green.

yeah the stereophonics have said the hip is one of their favourite bands
On the Egos and Icons broadcast of the Hip (MuchMusic) there is a clip that shows Paul and Gord (I think) doing an interview at a Seattle radio station and someone calls up to ask the band a question (I think this was during the Road Apples tour) - the person calling? "Stone" who has a new band called "Pearl Jam" who said he'd be at the Hip show that night. So I'm guessing that at a minimum, Stone Gossard has been a fan since the early days.

Pearl Jam's bass player Jeff Ament is also a fan.
