Well, my reason is kind of weak. I have good family friends in Sweden and I was there last year and loved the country. I don't any reason to cheer for another team there.
Sorry

No prz, we are sorry.....as we are going to beat Sweden on saturday
What a match between England and Portugal. Too bad for England that a goal was dismissed two minutes before the end, otherwise they would have won. Nothing was wrong with that goal. However, Portugal was the better team. Too bad penalties had to be the decider...

Don't know if anyone saw the game today but man, what a classic, esp extra time! I hate shootouts but this one had the adrenaline pumping.
Oh, and I didn't see the first half, anyone know why Rooney got taken out?
All for now,
Aaron

Rooney went out on what looked like a sprained ankle.
I'm pulling for The Netherlands... as Amsterdam was my first stop, on my first trip to continental Europe. And everyone there was incredible; so much so that I think I'll go back next year.
And Stephen, read "Among The Thugs" by Bill Buford. <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0679745351/qid=1088127352/sr=8-1/ref=pd_ka_1/002-7199337-9892827?v=glance&s=books&n=507846">http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/de ... s&n=507846</a><!-- m -->
A great book, that explores... the realm of catharsis, and what life is like for a soccer hooligan.

Wow. THAT was a game. What a performance. 2 hours. Extra penalty kicks. Just, Wow.
Now if only they'd freeze the field, that sport would be heaven.

Catharsis and soccer hooliganism? Why wasn't this required reading in school? I'm all over it.

A guy at the 7/11 this morning asked me "Do watch soccer?"
- "Uhh.. yeah" I said confidently.
- "Who should I pick in Proline (Sports gambling) Sweden or Holland?" he asked.
- I said, "I'm hearing Holland all the way."
So, that guy, his six dollars and my pride are ridin' on Holland.

Wow, what an exciting game, I thought the Dutch were toast a few times there in extra time, great to see them come through it and end years of bad luck at the Euros in Penalty kicks. :jump

Woo Hoo!
I went to the Blue Jays game today, and in between innings I went to grab some food. Rogers Cable had a booth set-up showcasing their new HD channels. I got them to switch over to the football match so I could watch it. Within minutes a crowd of about 50 people had gathered around the TV's and watched the entire extra time, and free kicks. We totally forgot that there was a baseball game going on behind us!
