i was wondering if the boys mingle with the crowd at these types of shows?...they will probably be selling merchandise? want to bring something to get signed but not sure what!
I have been to two.
For M@W in Rochester they did not mingle.
For IVL in Toronto there were commercial breaks, and a couple people would go up for pics or autographs. But that was really about it.
We've been to many small shows down sount, and Bill's Bar in Boston. For these shows, there was some minglinh. Nothing beforehand, but usually afterwards. At House of Blues in Orlando, they mingled almost instantaneously after the show - about 20 minutes afterwards. Their opening badn was also out there with the crowd, Wayne. At Bill's Bar, within about 30 minutes, they were having beers with people. Lastly, at House of Blues in Los Angeles, they also had beers with the small crowd (many had left after the show, so there were about 40 left behind) for over an hour.
In Chicago, almost like clock work, they showed up at an Irish pub down the street (Dearborn IIRC) after each gig.
I saw them with about 500 people at the High Sierra Festival in San Fransisco '98 (not a club show, but close enough). After the gig, the guys were all walking around the grounds and checking out all the merch tents. My buddy and I chatted with Paul for a bit.
In Syracuse they frequent the cigar bar down the street from the Landmark...it just changed hands so I'm not sure of the name...but there's only one in Armory Square...so chances are you could find it easily.

saw them at the Odeon in Cleveland in 96, and twice in 02. no mingling, but they do chat with people outside the club after the show. Will sign stuff and take pics if you ask nice. about an hour-hour/half wait after the show.
When they came to Long Island at a small bar (Mulcahey's 2000?) They came during one of the early acts and watched off to the side trying not to be noticed then went back after a song or two

Awful Al's I think... man what a place before a show there,...
They might do this at American shows, but at these shows they most definitely will not do it. There will be hundreds of 'die-hards" in the audience, all of which would kill to trap one of the Hip in the corner and talk both of ears off.
i got news for ya.....the die hards are the ones who go to the american shows.
at 279 last year, paul, and johnny came to the bar for a drink, and signed a couple things. but for the most part paul was talking to his sister, and johnny was trying to stay out of sight.
seen them numerous times in the US in small clubs and have seen them mingling only about a half dozen times, I think it usually depends on the length of drive the night before or the length of drive after the show.

I saw them at UNC and they hung around for a couple of hrs because they were going back home for a week before they were to go back on the road.

Gordie on is solo tour in Atlanta was mingling before the show but real early and after the show he signed a for a few minutes and then got on the bus. This also may have been because of the dissappointing crowd.
