did i miss something today or was that a tribute to orr for accomplisments or is he not with us anymore? during the first intermission of game 5
Ron
I have no idea, I was just wondering the same thing myself after watching Coach's Corner.
Numba foa is alave n' well padna as fa as I no.
Grapes was just paying tribute, for what he said might be his "last time." Looking more and more like Don won't be back next year. I guess he wants to say thanks to the Orr's, Gilmour's and guys who've made the Corner enjoyable for him over the years.
I think Don was high on pills for his cold today...
yea he seemed kinda woozy, maybe they did the orr tribute thing so don wouldn't have to talk for those 2 minutes. it was still good though, nice to see the 'flying' goal, i always loved that one!
Aaron
They played the exact same tribute last year, and I thought that he had died; but thankfully, Don was just paying tribute to one of the best players still alive.
Pills? no...He's drunk, as usual.
ya i was reading he was doing because it might be it for him at CBC. He will be fine though. I am sure that either tsn or sportsnet will pick him up if he doesnt return to CBC.
I'd love to see him on another network but he's stated that if they do sack him, he doesn't want to sign elsewhere. He said he appreciated his time at CBC and wants to leave it at that. Too bad, because I was hoping the same thing as prz.
I'd love to see him coach again......
He won't sign with another Canadian network. However, especially if a strike further damages the game in the States, ABC/ESPN/Disney will up their ante for him.
Jim Rome has hinted at this.. and it may be something he can still do from Toronto, similar to what John Davidson does for CBC from New York.
Personally, all nationalism aside, I think that would be the best option for Don. His schtick is universal, he's already very well-known in northern US hockey markets, and it'd only be a matter of time before he's being parodied on SNL.
It could be good for the game if Grapes goes South.
