Finally heard it after diggin up some headphones hear at work. Now on the 2nd listen and it's starting to grow on me. You know it's gonna be a good hip tune when it takes a few listens to get into it. Those always seem to be the best ones. :thumb:

To me, it's a song trying to find itself, but not quite succeeding.
The pick up around the 2:00 mark should be the tempo and style of the whole song IMO... and the odd silent pauses are certainly different.
This one will take some getting used to, but it's a song that only a fan will love.
It's not radio friendly by any means (Which is good for us, bad for marketing) and I think was a poor choice for a single, let alone a major U.S. single.
Should be great live though, as Gord really pushes his voice... unfortunately, I don't think it'll be great any place else.

I'm also on a Mac. Would someone be able to give me a hand listening to this?

Agreed. I've given it at least ten listens and it's definitely different, and not in the best way (in my opinion). After falling head over heels in love with Vaccination Scar after the very first listen, this song is a bit of a let down.

sounds like he's straining to reach the high notes.. The song reminds me of puttin down

I see what you guys mean about it getting better after a couple of listens. I'm not sure if I like it as much as Vaccination Scar, but I might by tomorrow!
It also seems that the sound quality it not quite what Vaccination scar is. It will probably sound better on the record.

I thougt the exact same thing! The pauses are similar.

Gratts said it, it reminds me of puttin down, that was the first thing I thought of. I bet it's an opener at their shows, the "Use It Up" of this tour. It's funny how most of us are all thinking the same thing...good...but not THAT good....then again, if we read Irish's review, it definitely seems as if it's not one of the best tracks on the record....
Gord is pushing his voice, thus the woooo at the end, I'd say that wasn't planned. But still very cool...

It just hit me... Ya know why this song is going to become a favourite live tune this tour?
A collective "Whooo!" from the thousnads in attendance.
It's growing on me, I'll give it that...

I hate PureTracks.
Why not allow Mac users to download? They could steal all the Mac users away from the iTunes store, before it is even available in Canada.

I agree it's definitely not a radio-friendly tune by any means, but I wouldn't jump the gun and call it a letdown just yet. On first listen I was loving the production, but not liking the song. On my second and third listen I started paying attention to the song structure and the lyrics, and then by the 4th listen, the melody had suddenly sank it's teeth into me and I was finally hooked. I LOVE the weird pauses, especially the last one when Gord lets out a "wooo!"
Listen to it a few more times. It'll grow on ya! :music
