So they'll come again; who was at Gord Downie's Solo invasion and who caught them in 2002 when they graced this great city? Last time was incredible... the Gord additon to opening act Sarah Harmer's "Silver Road", and then Sarah Harmer's vocal backups to "Wheat Kings". A packed, in fact oversold, show, with Gord's Heineken being the "Dutch 50", and his admission to "being cool" with the overhead porn advertisements. Festival Plaza in downtown Ottawa will be Rocking once more (sans Bryan Adams and Nelly Furtado who play seperate nights apart)... so? Who's Going?

I was there both times. I loved Gord's "they must know our demographic..." while looking at the porn banner and his "Happy Canada Day!" while covering his eyes and staring at the Peace Tower in the distance. Can't wait for this show.
If you're lucky, and you're up at the right time, you can occaisionally catch the 2002 show on Rogers cable.
Steeplechase was great in '03.
I'll be there, can you guys help me out by telling me how far the Festival Plaza is from the VIA station? Any great places to stay the night, within walking distance? Does the Festival Plaza have an actual street adress?

The VIA Station is probably about 4 or 5 kilometres from Festival Plaza. Its about a 10 minute bus ride though from the transit station right across from the VIA Station (the St. Laurent one, not the Barrhaven one), and it will be pricey to stay downtown, which is where Festival Plaza is, and because its just the big green lawn, it could, I suppose, share an address with the Ottawa City Hall.
I was there for both, and it's a terrible shame tht I can't make it this time because I'm here in Calgary. I just moved here and I would love to be able to get out east for this again, but it;s a matter of $$$. Hopefully someone makes a great bootleg of it!!
By the way, if the 2002 show is on Rogers every now and then, could somebody tape it an rip the audio? There's a B quality bootleg of that show out there but nobody;s ever made a boot out of the broadcast....
