Hiccups

Please correct errors!

There was choking dust in the air
Your heart went out in sync with your lungs
Them hiccups out of nowhere
The kind that just come and come

There was a palpable interest
And it kinda grew from there
Everyone had opinions
They came flying in from everywhere;

“Take a drink and stand on your head.”
And “Plug your nose, oh, and count backwards from ten.”
And “Hold your breath and push your fingers into your ears
Until your eyes well up with tears.”

They came from all sides and down through the years
And just then, out of nowhere, your hiccups disappeared
