its not even a whole syllable, its almost like half a syllable. pronounce the Ca- part. please.
i've heard people call tampa bay the "bolts" but never the "zaps". either way, it sounds dumb. come to think of it, i hate team names that dont end with 'S'. It just sounds so dumb to say things lie "the lightning is/are going to win tonight! woo!" it just sounds so awkward. i'm talking about names like lightning, avalanche, magic, etc. :rambo:
Hey CC,
Oh Ya Iggy sure wailed on Ohlund? If Ohlund really wanted to he could have killed Iggy. Just compare reach and size on the two. All Iggy could do was land a couple of body shots to Ohlund's equipment and helmet. You must not play hockey CC cause to call Ohlund a chicken shit is bull. Those so called midsection punches were a joke, it made Iggy look like a little kid trying to fight a man. If you call that a win then I'm 12 and 2 in my rec league, which my team mates would laugh at. Actually I'm 3-2-9 with one nearly broken nose this season. Ohlund is TOUGH, he isn't afraid to get in the corners and lay the body or drop the gloves. He did with Iggy. Iggy is lucky Burt wasn't there to sucker him.
You want to talk about hitting posts, Have a look at game two. The NUCKS hit the post twice and the crossbar once. Gee I wonder if that would have been a different game had those gone in. NUCKS would be up three games to none right now.
I think you mean if it wasn't for the NUCKS fantastic powerplay they might be down in the series, cause ya the flames stink.
Without Kipper it would have been a sweep with two shutouts!
Everyone that hates the name NUCKS is either jealous or has too much time to waste on what teams should be called. They will always be my NUCKS! I suppose Canuckleheads is no good either?

So he could have had he wanted to. hmmmm... so he must not have wanted to this time I guess, just felt like giving Iggy a big hug?
bauer Wrote:it made Iggy look like a little kid trying to fight a man.
Call me crazy but it was Ohlund hanging on tight to Iggy looking like a little boy trying to hold Iggy tight so as not to suffer the full blows from Iggy.
Iginla had good measure to take it to a fight as well since the refs aren't about to protect him. After being boarded by Ohlund and the refs not calling it, he took matters into his own hands.
bauer Wrote:Iggy is lucky Burt wasn't there to sucker him.
WTF is that supposed to mean? Your team is lacking because Burt's gone not because he was a valuable player but because he throws down the cheap shots and would have taken Iginla out?
We'll see what happens tonight, despite what you might think, the Flames do have what it takes to oust the Canucks. I don't know what games you've been watching. But the ones I've seen of the series have been tight games. They may be the underdogs but they're not going to lie down. This'll be a fight to the finish.
GO FLAMES GO!!!
The full blows from Iggy. Ha Ha! Come on. The size difference is huge. Iggy looked like a midget next to Ohlund. It was like Ohlund was holding back a child. No one wants to hit a kid. Ohlund is not a fighter and obviously neither is Iggy. It's a joke to even call this a fight.
The hit on Iggy was clean. The ref was standing right beside them when the so called boarding happened. I really don't like to see hits from behind but having said that, when you turn your back to the defenseman you are fair game. If you didn't notice the pros don't have a little stop sign on their backs. If you have the puck and are against the boards just because you turn your back to the play doesn't mean you're home free. If iggy didn't touch the puck it would have definitely been a penalty for hitting from behind. A boarding penalty requires at least a two stride charge into the hit. Was Ohlund supposed to drop em with Iggy for delivering a clean hit? Iggy should have gotten an instigator penalty for chasing after Ohlund.
The Burt sucker was meant as a joke. Although Big Burt would destroy Iggy in a second. In a real hockey fight that is.
Iggy best keep his head up in front o the net tonight.
Oh ya, I've been watching the games they show on CBC. Ya some have been tight like the first game in Vancouver. That was a close one.
Go NUCKS Go
Nucks in five now!
Another Hipbaser just sent me this. It's from last year's playoffs but I thought it was pretty darn funny.

Huge??? They look pretty similar to me. Just checked it out and you're right Ohlund is bigger. A whole inch and 13 lbs!! That's one freakin huge child at 207lbs and 6'1"!!!
I'm not calling it a great fight or anything like that. It happened how it happened, and that is Ohlund hung on tight so Iginla couldn't get a full swing in.
I don't buy that the hit was clean, I don't really think that Ohlund meant to do it either. Should've been called but it wasn't and thus the fight.
As for the Burt joke, didn't see anything like some winky face or comment to make me see it. Hard to pick up on these things sometimes over a message board.
I think the game tonight's going to be a lot rougher. Whoever does come out on top of this series is going to be a battered team. Flames all the WAY!!!
There was no way that hit was clean. Hockey players know when they hit a guy from behind it's never clean, especially when buddy's got his head down near the boards. A cheap shot, definitely a 2 minute penalty if it had been seen.
the hit was dirty, ohlund hung onto iginla like a baby, and the flames are going to win the series. nobody can accuse me of being biased because i'm an oilers fan. i hate the flames more than any CA-nucks fan.
Do any of you guys even play contact hockey? Ohlund's hit was clean. I think had Ohlund wanted to give Iggy a dirty one he could have pushed Iggy's face through the boards. You can't turn your back when you got the puck. It's not like Ohlund ran him or something. The ref probably told Iggy to take care of it himself or quit faking. Iggy sure didn't look shook up as he went after Ohlund in fact he looked a little like Burt chasing Moore. This is hockey after all, not women's hockey. At least the refs realize these are men out there. I wonder where people got the idea that hockey should be all finess. The ice is hard, the puck is hard, the equipment is hard and the players are hard. I love rough full contact hockey and this series is full of it. Some of the best hockey so far.
Also I think Iggy's weight and height stats you found are a bit padded.
Hey bean, it must be hard for you to watch all this great hockey with no OIL in the picture.
I agree with ya sherp who ever does win is going to be sore.

Wow , my mistake , i didn't realize I was speaking with a rec hockey league player. Have you dropped your resume off at Hockey Night in Canada yet ? You know there is nothing worse than a homer who can't view his own team in any kind of objective manner. Ohlund is chickenshit because he hit from behind and then hugged Iggy like a Canuck fan holding on to a Toni Tanti autograph. I've seen Iggy clean the clock of Anaheims goon at the time, Denny Lambert, in 2001 , the year Iggy won the scoring title. Iggy can go toe to toe with anyone in the league , he may not win but he'll give them a run for their money. I don't say it because i'm a homer , I say it because i've seen it . He doesn't fight often, but he knows how to chuck them. Iggy's been in 24 fights in his career ...You say Ohlund is tough and not afraid to drop them ? Let's look at Mattias Ohlunds fighting record...This is from Hockeyfights.com
They show 2 fights..
first one from 11/27/98 vs Slava Kozlov
A big scrum ensues and Ohlund drops his gloves to go with Slava Kozlov. Kozlov decides to keep his gloves on and just hunches over and grabs Ohlund's waist. Mattias then proceeds to pound in 4 or 5 decent uppercuts.
second from 10/31/03 vs Chris Gratton
Comments: At the end of the game, both crosscheck each other near the front of the Canucks net. Gratton finally drops his gloves and the linesmen immediately jump in. Ohlund took off his right glove and landed a short right while the linesmen hold onto Gratton. The punched landed and cut Gratton pretty good over his eye. Gratton is yelling and trying to punch over the linesmen. Other Penalties: Gratton received a double cross checking; Ohlund a cross checking.
Ohlund may be a good defensemen, strong on the body , but he doesn't/can't fight , and his hit was cheap.

Ouch... anybody just see the ending of the Canadiens game? Who wants to go down to Rue Ste. Cathrines and turn stuff over whilst lighting things on fire. Sounds like a good time, no?
Ya that was brutal..........
I hope Kovalev's wrist was broken , because if it wasn't, i'm pretty sure Souray would like to break it .
