I'm being criticized by a fellow fan who is telling me that a "real" hip fan likes every one of thier songs. I have a few songs I'm not crazy about, so I guess that doesn't make me a "REAL" hip fan. Comments?
That fellow fan doesn't know what he/she is talking about.
I do not think you have to like every single song. I am sure everyone can come up with at least one song they are not to high on.

I agree, I was a big fan of Garth Brooks back in the day and there's songs of his I still don't like that much.

Which song(s) would qualify as your least favorite?
I can't get that thread to come up.
I haven't heard EVERYTHING yet, but from what I've heard, I'm not fond of the first album so far, I don't totally hate it, but some of it isn't that great. I mean one of my FAVORITES "Highway Girl" came off that album. So I can't hate it:-) They most definitely have come a long way.
Also, Apartment song and Sherpa
I find it very hard to believe that someone would like every song the hip have done. I really don't like blow or nois, does that mean I'm not a fan? These are two of the hips most sacred songs and I'm sick of hearing them. They are played at everyshow. Leftovers from the 80's I suppose. Here's hoping they skip these songs on the next tour.

"real fan" debates as such are so tiring...it seems as though its a term that some fans need to kick around to belittle others and further validate themselves. sad.

Thats weird, I just tried the link and it works for me. Otherwise, the topic is on page 2 of the Tragically Hip Discussion so you can also just go there and find all the posts.
Apartment song and Sherpa you like or dislike?
I think just being apart of this site makes us all true Hip fan's. Just the fact that we take time and take part of this means alot. And also you should NOT be a Garth Brooks fan to be a true Hip fan!!(just kidding I guess).
Is there a such thing as an annoying Hip fan?
I can think of some..  just kidding

I think the best thing about the Hip fan base is, for the most part, the fans are fans because they love lyrical, critical music that isnt sit in one genre and even the casual fans aren't casual fans because it's "popular" and that to me makes The Hip one of the best bands out there.

 I've always been a fan of all genres of music, except hard core rap, but seems like Rock is it for me right now, especially The Hip OF COURSE. I used to have a job where I was exposed to country all of the time and then when I left that job I started to lose my taste for country. Where I'm from, it's redneck central, lots of pick up trucks, trailer parks, etc. Quite frankly, it's scary. You can't get away from country where I'm from.
I don't even know what is going on in the US as far as any kind of music right now. I've always loved Canadian music! I actually bought Glass Tiger's "Air Time" a few years ago! I also have MP3s from Platinum Blonde, Honeymoon Suite, Loverboy, Rush, Tom C and Red Ryder, and I had some Gowan and I've somehow lost the Gowan ones. I've had these MP3s for YEARS. I used to love to listen to my Ex-Husband's BNL albums. I also remember seeing Rock and Hyde opening for Bryan Adams and being the ONLY person in the place who knew who they were. I of course own at least one Hip album and I have quite a few MP3's. I'm a newbie so I have some catching up to do.
I wish I had paid more attention in the beginning of The Hip's career, but then again it was probably harder to get thier albums here then than it is now.The Hip are GOOD quality rock music and good rock music never ever goes out of style. You don't hear it that much anymore these days IMHO. Good music also has no boundaries. Like someone once said, there are two kinds of music, good music and bad music.
Wow, how's that for a $.02? That's like $1.78 lol
PS:
Kim, I DO NOT LIKE Apartment song and Sherpa
PPS: Garth Brooks and Gord Downie have something in common, they have birthdays one right after the other, Gord is 2/6, Garth is 2/7, Garth is like 2 years older.
