Hi all....just a little rant Smile
As much as I love the dorm a live in, and the girls that live on my floor, the fire drills have to stop. Tonight the alarm went off at 2:25. I just got back inside at three o'clock. Standing outside in the snow while having the flu...not the best experience. Top to it off, this is the 7th time that the alarm has gone off after 1:30 am. F***ing sick. Anyone else have such horror stories? If not...sorry for taking up time/board space...just had to get this out before attempting to go back to sleep. G'night everyone.

We used to have cockroaches in our dorm, does that count?
False alarms were a regular part of my life during the year that I spent licing in a university residence.

It sucked then, but looking back now, they were just another piece of the puzzle that made residence life so great.

Wow, I feel really old all of a sudden.... to think that it's been 8 years since I lived in residence.Confusedcratch:

While we havent had 7 false alarms, we did have one that went off at 3:00 am on the night before a massive exam. We were out of the building in the freezing cold until 4:00am, then we tried to get some rest... NOT COOL!
It wasn't a dorm, but I lived in an apartment last year and it was the worst run down building of all time. The alarm went off every night for three weeks in the middle of december. it sucked.
Fire alarms weren't a huge part of my res... I had a girlfriend in Vic Hall though here at Queen's, and they went off all time time. They would go off with sudden changes in temp. though, so if someone opened their window in the middle of February for any length of timethe alarm would go off. It was crazy.

Go Waldron Tower -- single rooms for everyone!

Now who has had the worst land lord or ghettoist (is that a word) house in the other years of their education?

Cheers

Pat
Please tell me that somebody is pulling the alarms! Confusedhock: What other reason is there for them going off *** the time?
During second year, I was dating a girl who lived in rez, and a friend of hers got really hammered one night, came home and held a lighter up to the heat sensor to "see if it did anything!"

It did, and off went the alarm...
I live right across the street from my campus and at least once a week they will send a squad or a ladder to check out false alarms, mostly its drunk freshmen screwing around.
I lived in Vic hall my first year of undergrad and the alarm was going off about once every week. It sucked but what can you do.

I assume that its someone pulling them...at least on the weekends its almost excusable...but on a Tuesday night :x that's just frustrating.

Sounds like somebody pulled the alarms to mess with somebody, maybe because they knew somebody had exams the next day?

could be...but my dorm is MASSIVE...close to 700 residents. Getting everyone out...then standing in the lovely Syracuse spring weather (snow and wind and more snow)...just not cool, not cool at all. However, its better than a situation one of my friends had to deal with; there were bats in her dorm; rabid bats.

The thing that is re***y sad is that I'm sure not *** of the students leave the dorm right? Than the one time the alarm goes off and it's actu***y for real, how many people are going to die? :x I don't re***y understand what's funny about pulling an alarm.
