Ok, folks I've got a challenge for you.. getting my computer upgraded and as part of the upgrade im getting a cd burner, photoshop etc that I can make cd's. I've had an idea in the back of my head to make an all Canadian artists cd for a couple of old friends of mine in Toronto for Canada Day. What I want from you fine folks is suggestions for Canadian artists, preferrably no rap, hip hop stuff (as they dont care for that). One of these friends is my ex-gf, I introduced her to the Hip; so I'm limiting Hip songs to Black Day in July or some of the new ones. The floor is open to suggestions....enjoy!
Theres so much out there, but a couple of Canadian Dandies I don't mind:
Spirit of Radio - Rush
Heart of Gold - Neil Young
Since When - 54-40
Rico - Matthew Good Band
Blown Wide Open - Big Wreck
Naveed - Our Lady Peace
About three decades of Canadian Rock in there...
here are a few with song suggestions some with out:
danko jones - bounce
54-40 - around the horn
rusty
sloan - everything you've done wrong
the watchmen - say something
our lady peace - 4 am
finger eleven - first time
big sugar - red rover
i mother earth - rasberry
lowest of the low
the northern pikes
static in stereo
hayden
coney hatch -- monkey bars
hope this helps

Headstones, David Wilcox, The Guess Who, Holly McNarland, Stompin Tom, Gord Lightfoot.......
I really think you should do lesser-known canadian stuff. Neil Young has already crossed over to the states. I'd say...
Headstones
something with teeth from the Teeth and Tissue record
Tom Wilson
'planet love'
Sloan
'reach out' from the new album
no doubt i'm forgetting a million cool people, but i'd say that those three songs are pretty impressive.
so far my ideas are:
Bleed a little while tonight : Lowest of the Low
Dogs and Thunder: Weeping Tile
Coalmine: Danny Michel
something from the many hits of Blue Rodeo
In your Hideout: pilates
The sound of love: Danko Jones
Don't get your back up: Sarah Harmer
Miles from our home: Cowboy Junkies
When I'm Up: Great Big Sea
Lovers in a Dangerous Time (cover): BNL
