nice tribute.

couldn't help but notice the typo in the description, though. "David Evan Powell May 27, 1962 - November 27, 1962"

and Johnny looks old with the grey hair and glasses.
That was excellent. Thanks.
Damn, I didn't even know he died. That video was posted back on Dec. 11th.

Sad news.

Sad
Great tribute video, although definitely sad stuff. Too young.
Saw this posted on the Facebook page as well. Dave was wrapping up his MA at Lakehead at the same time I started mine. I think we only ever crossed paths once or twice; enough to exchange pleasantries, but never long enough for me to geek out and ask him everything about his time with the band I wanted to. First time I met him was at a grad student mixer. He was wearing jeans, a blazer and a 9:30 Club t-shirt - I knew he'd be a pretty good dude to have a pint with.

Ended up taking over his desk in the history office at LU. Definitely still have his copy of Jihad vs. McWorld in my bookshelf.
Anyone recognize Johnny's words at 2:52 of that video ?
lovely tribute...thanks for sharing

"good thing, too. this is our 6th time in New York and 4th time getting ripped off" ?

A proto-Escape lyric?

Also the discussion of Dave being able to clear a room ... hey that's a Morning Moon, yea-ah.

yes reminded me of Escape , whats the year of this video...if it was within 18 months of so of Gord writing those lyrics, it makes sense... , Gord may have wrote it down after watching a copy of the video.

The NY clip is from the 1992 CBC documentary Full Fledged Vanity. Certainly is possible that Gord watched the show and incorporated Johnny's words into Escape five years later.
Good lord, who replaced Johnny with Michael Keaton?
Nice tribute. Rest in peace, Dave.
I can't hear Dave's name without thinking of Gord's "sibling romance" rant from Hengelo 91. Probably not how he'd like to be remembered lol.
