Voted Goodnight...I loved AT the moment I heard it, and wish they produced more songs like that. GA is great, too, but I like the structure of AT more; it's a bit more stream of conscious, and reminds me of Nautical Disaster, whereas GA is a straight ahead verse, chorus, bridge...and I find the ending drags a bit at the end. It could use a killer guitar solo there, instead of the repeating drone of the main riff. I realize that's getting picky, but this is the championship round!
I pulled a u-ey and went with Attawapiskat as the weaker of the two, just because Transformation feels like more of a "band" song. Atta is more GD & RB. Plus even after hundreds of listens I still find the breakdown in Attawapiskat a bit awkward. Had to get real nit picky because both these songs are fantastic.
I prefer the directness of the lyrics to both GA and WETBI to the gnomic abstractions of AT. This is not to attack AT, just to say I prefer the other two because they don't require study and ponderation to make powerful sense. 'Goodnight Attawapiskat' is a devastating indictment of the colonial gaze, Canadian-style. The repetition at the end is hardly a flaw, illustrating as it does the endless loop of colonial paternalism (and I like the tape-hiss echo of 'I Want You (She's So Heavy').' I feel that that is a major Hip song - bolting a classic Hip backdrop to a withering political statement - and adds to the Hip canon in a way that AT doesn't really do. So AT gets my vote for expulsion, much as I enjoy that track.
I like At Transformation but Attawapiskat is a stunner.

Transformation is kind of a lesser Vaccination Scar.

Attawapiskat...that’s the best song on this one by a thousand mile suit.

An unfortunate result, picking the "safe" Hip track rather than the bold statement of GA - but predictable. Oh well.

Nobody can afford to sing a song that they don't love.
