What, in your opinion, is the best Power Trio in the Hip's recording history? By that I mean three consecutive songs on any one studio (i.e., not live) album.

My vote: So Hard Done By/Nautical Disaster/Thugs

My runner-up: Locked in the Trunk of a Car/We'll Go Too/Fully Completely

I spend an inordinate amount of time thinking about these things. How about you?

If I cheat and pretend I'm listening on a CD where song 1 is going to start after song 12 ends... Escape, Emperor, and Poets.

Playing by the rules, I like the finish to MMP of Hot Mic, Ocean's Next, and Machine. My favourite trio would probably be Looking for a Place, 100th, and Pigeon Camera, followed closely by the DFN trio listed above by NWOntario.

Seriously, how'd I forget TATH? I'd have to go with ABAC/Daddy/Flamenco...that's a killer trio.

I did today. I let my mind wander during the drive home from work tonight and thought about my favourite consecutive trio from each album:

EP: Smalltown, Last AE, Killing Time
UTH: NOIS, 38 YO, She Didn't Know

RA: LTR, Bring it All Back, Pistols
FC: Looking, 100th, Pigeon

DFN: So Hard Done By, Nautical, Thugs
TATH: Gift, Springtime, ABAC

PP: Chagrin, Escape, Emperor
M@W: My M@W, Lake, Tiger

IVL: Good Life, Silver Jet, Throwing off Glass
IBE: If New Orleans is Beat, Yer Everywhere, Makeshift

WC: Drop-Off, Family Band, WC (I've got a number of favourite pairs on this album, but it's hard to come up with three solid tunes in a row)
WATS: Morning Moon, Honey, Recluse

NFPA: At Transformation, MMP, The Lookahead
MMP: Hot Mic, Ocean's Next, Machine

I also got thinking about my favourite run of three albums. DFN has to be in there so that left me with RA/FC/DFN or FC/DFN/TATH or DFN/TATH/PP. Tough choice!

OOHHH...favourite 3 run album is a toughie! I think it has to be FC, DFN, TATH, but leaving out PP is not fun!

For me, it's the opening three to FC. Hands down.
