Well, with You're Everywhere and Mean Streak being tied in the third place position, we will carry them forward to the next round so we eliminate two songs in this round; The Heart of the Melt and One Night in Copenhagen.

Eliminated Round 1
Summer's Killing Us
Heaven Is A Better Place Today

Eliminated Round 2
The Heart of the Melt
One Night in Copenhagen

Vote for the song you believe to be the weakest on In Between Evolution and after 48 hours, we will remove the three songs that have the most votes. As before, a song must have at least 10% of the vote in order to be removed otherwise it will carry forward into the following round.

The poll will end Sunday at 8:06am Eastern.

Happy voting!

Shane
The passionate pleas for Yer Everywhere have caused me to rethink my vote in the previous round. I too prefer the original lyrics used in 'Ballroom', but in comparing it to the remaining songs I rank it ahead of a couple. My vote last round was a bit more strategic as I was and still am a bit uncertain how I rank the remaining songs. I've decided to vote for Nashville I think the song was quick out of the gates as an instant hit for me when first listening to the album, but it hasn't necessarily had the staying power for me as being one of the best on the record.

Fuck this and fuck that. Wink

I voted for "Everywhere." To me, IBE has a lot of solid 6/10s - but not a lot of 8s or 4s, and YE is as close to a 4 as anything else. However, if "Mean Streak" gets voted off, I swear I'll become a stranger 'round here.
After the discussion of You're Everywhere in the last poll, I decided to give it a listen with fresh ears based upon what everyone said.

Listened to the remaining songs four times through this morning and I think I see what everyone was saying about it; best part of these for me have been seeing what people enjoy about songs that have not discovered.

So, with that, I'm going with Mean Streak instead of You're Everywhere this round; appreciate the discussion that forced me to go back and listen to this in a more focused way than I have before.

I've voted for the same song all three rounds... so there's that I guess
Sigh. "Mean Streak" and "Everywhere" continue to get the shaft. Incomprehensible.

I voted "Nashville." I like the song's driving beat and many of the lyrics. It's a good cut. But not as good as the others, to my ear; I think there needs to be an added element in the chorus, some sort of extra "oomph." Imagine some kind of explosion coinciding with the "yeah!" part and you see what I mean Big Grin

One minor mercy is that "Are We Family," which I expected to get beat up early on in this process, is still hanging in there just fine. It's quite an overlooked track but a strong song, and the polling seems to be acknowledging this. I always thought that'd be a great song to play at a wedding.
I like Mean Streak too. Very ominous. Quite brooding.

Can't believe Heart of the Melt is gone.

But I suppose everyone hears different things.
You're Everywhere and Mean Streak in the lead? WTF, people??

I was elated to see that YE survived. I voted my conscience (Are We Family this time, instead of Nashville -- apos KWT, I put them on the same astral plane), and then was immediately disappointed that those goons (minus the change of hearters, whom I admire greatly) who pushed YE to the brink last round were back with their perfidious election meddling driving up the vote totals again.

I wanna see all those Copen-haters and Hate-of-the-Melters use their evil now for good and save YE by voting otherwise.

I'm As Makeshift As We Are Gone
IBE has shaped out to be the most controversial voting to date! Seems a lot of people are hearing a lot of different things on this one!
Yeah, the three songs "leading" in this poll are three of my very favourite tracks on the album...thass whack!
Voted Family. I really like the song, and it was between that and Mean Streak, but I gave the edge to Mean, probably because I've seen it live and have some nostalgia for it? I'm starting to have a hard time voting for the remaining songs as I think they are all great, but I'm still SHOCKED that Everywhere won't be fighting it out as the champ for this album. It is bar none the best song on IBE.
I'll raise a glass o' milk to anyone who can convince me that You're Everywhere and Goodnight Attawapiskat are not the same song, and equally overrated.

If the round 2 thread didn't sell you on Yer Everywhere, yer incorrigible! At the very least I would encourage you to call Chris Tanz before voting... he left his number in the last thread and said he could be reached at all hours, day and night. He's on standby, waiting to help folks like you who are mistaken in thinking one of the Hip's most underrated songs is in fact overrated. Big Grin
