Between Nashville and Are We Family this round ... Both good songs that I have enjoyed more or less at various times over 14 years, but on album full of songs that crackled, these ones merely crinkle ... and somewhat arbitrarily as between the two of them, I voted for Nashville.

If both of them go (and it is ludicrously looking like You're Everywhere and The Heart of the Melt at the moment), then I have some real decisions to make next round (well, maybe after Mean Streak is gone).

I'm merely OK with Copenhagen, whereas the rest of this list is strong as a tank, so out it goes.

I'd like to think the Josephine hater is one of those people with insufficient attention span to make it to the end of the album, and they're just voting it off because they haven't heard it yet.

I'm with you on this. I love the imagery of the euphoric high being "as loyal as a fruitfly." It vanishes and is replaced with the paranonia/anxiety/self-esteem crash. I can see the narrator of this song standing in front of the bathroom mirror muttering these lines to himself.
A lot of fun little lines in this song. The "nadir's florescent" ...which also happens to be the name of an electrical company in Toronto. You see their trucks around town. I can only imagine Gord seeing one of those trucks and thinking, "Hmm, that's an interesting name" as he jotted it down in his notebook.
I love this tune. It's punchy. It's quirky. Great guitar tones..and fun lyrics. Very underrated tune. There's at least 6 other songs left that I'll vote for before this one.

That is a murderer's row of tunes left above. Just imagine if that had been the album in final form. Wow!

Voted Copenhagen as well. No dislike of the song, simply a casualty of having to go with something.

I love that line as well. I think "drugs" in the song is a metaphor for his creative muse. When that muse leaves him (when the "drugs quit") his self-esteem regarding his writing talents vacates as well. "You talentless fuck, good fucking luck Good fucking luck" is a wonderfully self-deprecating line.

I didn't mean to attack "Copenhagan." It's got terrific lyrics and an interesting vibe. But it's competing with what is probably Gord's best overall album in terms of lyrics, this side of Day for Night.

As for "Josephine:"

What more do you want, really? My daughter's middle name is Josephine, inspired by this song.

How "Yer Everywhere" and "Mean Streak" are on the block remains absolutely beyond me. Like I keep saying! :x

Oh man, thank you so much...these easter eggs that Gord left us are everything now. I've been a hardcore fan of this band for 25 years and I still find a new one every year.

Voted Copenhagen for this round. Aside from the lyrics, that song just does nothing for me.

Lyrically Copenhagen is an interesting song but I voted for it due to the absence of strong chorus and an under-cooked melody. Now, contrast that with "You're Everywhere" (which is inexplicably racking up votes), which has a bridge and chorus that take it to another level of emotional intensity. Gord absolutely gives 'er on that chorus. To me, there is no comparison between the two songs. "You're Everywhere" is a top four song on this album for me.
