New Kate Fenner album released on Bandcamp yesterday. Didn't even know she was recording one. Sounds pretty damn good.

Haven't purchased yet -- anyone taken it for a test drive? Usually with Chris and Kate I just buy whatever, however right now I'm not sure I have the time to assimilate anything new.

I've listened through a few times now and I'm diggin' it. If you've heard her last two solo albums (Horses & Burning Cars, Magnet), it's not much different stylistic-wise. But it's Kate, and her gorgeous pipes are what you came here for, right? If you're already a fan I'm certain you'll enjoy it. It's a solid record with top-notch songwriting and performances.

I'm hoping she'll tour for this album. I haven't seen her live since 2002 in Ottawa when she and Chris came through town promoting "O Witness". It's been way too long.

Last time I saw C+K live was at Taste of the Danforth in Toronto playing a free gig at a side stage, sometime in life back before I had kids and I would voluntary pack myself into places like Taste of the Danforth. I really like Horses & Burning Cars, but never really clicked with Magnet (probably just from not enough spins). I will acquire it now and listen to it on low volume all day at work; that's a good way to get into it, right.

I've always been curious to know how C+K got connected with the hip to tour with the band in 2000. Can anyone shed any insight?

Chris & Kate (and their first band Bourbon Tabernacle Choir) are good friends with the Rheostatics, so I'm assuming the Hip originally met them through the Rheos. Chris Brown also played keyboards on Music@Work, which likely led to them joining the Hip on the 2000 tour.

What songs did she sing on that tour? I saw M@W twice - I don't remember her singing anything in Minneapolis, but IIRC she did a verse of Wheat Kings and Yawning or Snarling?
