The
goldfish thread
got me thinking about eating and over eating and that got me
thinking about the less than appealing things I've eaten so hey, lets
see what everyone has eaten!
I think most revolting thing I've ever eaten would have to be deep fried
beef brain, Brain Fritters. Very nice stuff, mushy gray matter
< INSERT PUKING ICON >.
2nd worst would be beef tongue
did you know ants are tangy tasting?
Wow! That is quite gross! May I ask why you ate that? I would have to say the worst thing I have ever eaten was deer. My boyfriend gave it to me and than told me later that it was deer. I was pissed off! I am not a fan of any meat and that just made my stomach turn. I wish I had a really gross one to post though like pig eyes or something. But than again I don't know why I would be eating that.

My grandparents are French/spanish and my grand mother is quite the french cook and I guess brain fritters and tongue are considered a delicacy in Europe. I was young at the time, this would have been about 16-17 years ago. Still recall the texture of the brain.. mushy

Yep venison for me too. Not that it was disgusting cause it actually tasted really good but I just felt so bad eating it. I was doing an internship at this company and one afternoon we had to go to this posh lunch and venison was on the menu. Fine, no problem. I started eating it but then I happened to look out the window and there was this cute tiny deer grazing in the grass in front of this place we were at....and i felt soooo bad. Couldn't help but wonder whether I was sitting inside eating his little brother or sister....
As for really disgusting food, I cant stop thinking about one specific scene in one of the Indiana Jones movies.. when they serve him this soup which has eyeballs floating around in it and the main dish is something like monkey brain.. yuck! :?
Two Words - Pork Rhinds...
I was spending a term in Spain on a school exchange program and stayed with a very nice family from Seville. On the first night of my stay they made this huge, elaborate meal. The first course was tripe...(or cow intestine) *shudder*. I didn't want to come across as rude so I ate everything that they placed in front of me but, I was scared to eat the rest of the trip!

Oh Jenna, I give you credit...rude, or not..I couldn't have eaten it....
I guess I would have to say frog legs...tasted like rubbery chicken...I was made to try them when I was young...since then, I have never tried anything new and foreign..I am scared to...
Yeah wow Jenna, there is no way in hell I could have eaten that. Even if I was starving I would chose to eat grass or something over that. Kudos to you for eating that!
Oh Kim, I feel for you too! See I was lied to in order to get me to eat the deer. It makes it so much worse for you considering you saw a deer, probably eating grass slowly in the warm sunlight while enjoying the soft breeze. But that is really why I can't eat meat. I can't get over the imagine of whatever animal it is being killed out of my mind. It grosses me out so much I can't eat it!
ok, i think i got you all beat! I dated a filipina woman in canada for about 2 years. Once we went to a gathering of her various aunts and uncles and her mom's oldest aunt brought balut to the dinner. Balut is a fried duck's egg, only the egg is fried about 3/4ths way through gestation, so you have a little duck, egg and batter. I took one look at it and darn near hurled.

hock: Luckily i didnt have to eat it

Aside from that, filpino food is really good, they just have weird "delicacies" like that

I am exactly the same way..when I do eat any meat, I have to try hard to not think about what I am eating. I am ok with chicken and turkey, usually....but yeah, makes me sad too....
