How do we not have a thread to discuss what we're watching?!?
I'm looking for some reccomendations for some hour long dramas, as I was looking at what seasons of shows I'm currently taking in, and they are literally all half hour comedies.
I guess I love my immature animation... I have just started season 2 of Rick and Morty, and it is one of the funniest animated series out there today IMO. Wubba lubba dub dub!
What are you guys and gals watching?
Shows I'm currently addicted to:
Better Call Saul
Fargo
The Americans
Orphan Black
Game of Thrones
Stranger Things
If you're in the mood for crazy over-the-top violence and ridiculous amounts of gratuitous nudity, I highly recommend watching all 4 seasons of Banshee. Very entertaining show.
I also revisited SSN 1 of True Detective recently. What a brilliant series that was. SSN 2 was such a letdown by comparison, but it's not easy to follow Woody and McConaughey. That first season was lightning in a bottle.
The leftovers - the third and final season completed - and the whole series is awesome
Fargo (movie) and seasons 1/2 along with S1 of True Detectives would all make my top 10. Haven't watched S3 yet.
Wife and I just finished the Leftovers. Some great acting and music (score?) with that show. In an era full of formulaic fiction, remakes, sequels etc. I appreciate original writing where you have no idea what to expect.
Now we're trying to love the new Twin Peaks season as much as we loved the originals, and about to pick back up where we left off with The Americans current season.
I guess I will list my current favourite shows as well...
Westworld (duh)
Game of Thrones (double duh)
Fear The Walking Dead (because they haven't had 7 seasons to fuck it up yet)
Bates Motel (Loved this entire series)
Jessica Jones (The best of the Marvel series IMO)
Comedies;
Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt (If you're a 30 Rock fan, you'll love this)
Bob's Burgers (fun for the whole family!)
Rick and Morty (fun for the whole family that is 18+!)
Brooklyn Nine-Nine
F is for Family
Curb Your Enthusiasm (I'm on a rewatch, getting prepped for the new season this fall!)
cut the cord on cable a couple of years ago
some good shows on Netflix
Rectify
Bloodline
River
The Fall
..and pretty much most of the British detective shows
Hinterland filmed in Wales ( the did two versions of each episode , 1 in English and the same in Welsh) fantastic cinematography
Luther ( with Idris Elba )
almost forgot
Peaky Blinders is a must see !!
Just finished this season's House of Cards and thought it was phenomenal. Spacey and Wright are pure evil, and the parallels with the current US political climate are spot on.
Thanks for the recommendations. Will definetly start a couple of these soon. Was thinking about trying out Hulu's Handmaid's Tale adaptation next.
Game of Thrones
Better Call Saul
Bloodline
House of Cards
Wentworth

We are up to about episode 8 of this current season. I have loved seasons 1-4, but this 5th season, unless something changes (and please don't comment if it does!), I'm not overly addicted to it like the past.
As usual, all the acting is phenomenal, but this seasons story line just seems to be "meh" to me. I find it difficult to explain, it just seems so unrealistic, but yet it seems to be completely based on current events at the same time? Its still great, I just not amazing like the others IMO

season 3 of HoC was some of the worst TV i've ever watched. it was a struggle to get through it. in fact, i hated it so much that i never went back to it when season 4 started

I second that! Season one is great, S2 is fantastic and 3 is up there with Sopranos!
S3 Fargo isn't nearly as good as 1 and 2 in my opinion. Good, but not great.
As far as movies go, check out Frank if you haven't already. Peculiar and wonderful. Also The Lobster. Hilariously bizarre.
Anybody watching "Ozark" on Netflix? I haven't had a chance to start it yet. From the trailer it looked pretty good, just curious of any opinions.

It's dark, but it's fantastic.
