Scored 2 GA for Toronto, can't wait to see these guys again!

I'll be trying for tickets at the general sale for Vancouver. Haven't seen then since 2011 which is way too long for me! Sounds like tickets were pretty easy to score in the presale which gives me hope!

But they didn't play Acrobat, my favourite on that album... that's why I'm demanding the full AB album tour so I can be guaranteed to hear that song!

Agreed. Best song on the album, hands down.

It must be one of those that's next to impossible to reproduce well live. They could just do it acoustic though! At least I got to hear Stay. I shed a tear or 2 for that one.
Holy shit it just dawned on me.....we get to hear Running to Stand Still. The best live segue they ever did was the Running -> Streets during Zootv. Gives me chills/uncontrollable tears every time I watch it

I may counter argue with....

All I Want Is You > Streets

All I Want Is You > Streets

Both stellar songs but for different reasons. Streets captures eternal longing better than just about any other I've come across in rock music. All I Want is You is one of those achingly beautiful yet honest love songs. AIWIY makes me tear up just about every time.

Please -> Streets was also incredible. Pretty much any segue into Street will be amazing, except 360's Amazing Grace. Blah..

Well tickets were NOT as easy to get a hold of as you pre-salers made it sound! I was on there for 20 minutes, getting booted out or given resale tickets for $600 before I finally lucked into a GA. Now all that's available are "legal" resale tickets for 500 to1500 dollars. What utter bullshit! Why is it even legal! I f-ing hate ticketmaster.
Tickets for Toronto were hard to come by. I managed two singles. $280+fees for a total of $309 each, which sets a new personal high for a face value concert ticket purchase. And this isn't even for what I would consider great seats. Bono and the boys are going to have a nice haul on this tour!

If those were lower level seats, they've been charging in the $200's for the past few tours. Back in 09 it was $200 for lower bowl near stage and about $100 up in the nosebleeds. We went with nosebleeds. GA has always been under $100. The fees are way higher than usual though. Ticketbastard needs extra dough to manage their scalper site I guess.

seeing them in DC and TO (U2.com presale)

Can't wait to see Red Hill Mining Town and One Tree Hill live, personally.
direwolf74 Wrote:Yea, they're notorious for slaving over new material and over-cooking it. Even the band themselves admitted that they spent way too much time making Songs of Innocence, and that they vowed to get the next one out quicker. Speaking of which, I read an interview with the Edge today in Rolling Stone, and he mentioned that their next album is basically in the can (titled Songs of Experience). However, he also says they may put it on hold briefly due to the current political climate so they can "think about it" before they decide to release it. Sounds like they might want to write a couple more songs that will add more political context to the record to make it more relevant to the times. I think this is a dumb move, and it's yet another example of them over-thinking things. The album is done. Just put the damn thing out already!

agreed. Long time fan here. They used to not over-think things. This started happening in the late 90s. I don't care that the album they wrote wasn't relevant for the current times. Just put it out and write another one next year then, they can do it. If Trump is going to be their new "muse", unfortunately he's not going anywhere for a few years. Some possibly great songs will fall by the wayside now that they're tinkering with it again. I have listened to so many B-sides/unreleased songs of theirs and have thought "why was that not on an album?????" (Mercy, Walk to the Water, Luminous Times [Hold Onto Love], North and South of the River). They spent almost 6 years making Songs of Innocence (which was partly waylaid due to the unexpected extension of the 360 Tour for a full year because of Bono's serious spinal injury) and the results weren't that great. Some of the songs were spectacular (Iris, Cedarwood Road, Every Breaking Wave) but it is hardly a classic album. Volcano and Sleep Like a Baby Tonight are clunkers.

Mercy is arguably one of the best things they've ever written. Love that tune. If I remember correctly, that song was recorded during the Atomic Bomb sessions. It's absolutely baffling that something that great was left off the album.

Agreed on Sleep Like a Baby Tonight, but I kinda dig Volcano. The chorus in particular reminds me of the Boy/October era, and I think that might have been exactly what they were going for considering the general theme of the album was looking back at their youth. Or maybe I'm just reading too much into it, haha.

My favorites off the last album are: Every Breaking Wave, Cedarwood Road, Iris, Raised By Wolves, California, Song for Someone. Pretty solid album overall. I'm still waiting for them to put something out that rivals their 80s and early 90s albums, but maybe that's asking too much from a band that's been around for almost 40 years. Most bands have maybe one masterpiece in them if they're lucky. U2 have made at least three in my opinion (Unforgettable Fire, Joshua Tree, Achtung Baby).

The Miracle (of Joey Ramone) is spectacular, in my opinion. Receiving back everything you've ever lost. It's beautiful.
