Hi all. Was curious to know what is "out there" regarding the Hip's earliest recorded material? Have searched this site and the web and don't see a lot of information out there. Are there any early demos floating around or decent live recordings that pre-date the self-titled official release that anyone could point me in the direction of or would be willing to share? I love looking into the histories of my favourite bands and the Hip is one band where I don't have much of anything outside the official releases or live bootlegs from their later era. Thanks for any help.

i've seen the Up to Hear, Road Apples and DFN demos. the UTH demos was linked on this site.
Browse through the live music archive on this site, and you'll find early bootlegs and demos.

Thanks for that. I've just been perusing the Hipbase Google Drive and found that 1985 Copper Penny live recording. The Hip with saxophones?!?! Amazing!

I read somewhere that there was another demo out there from the EP that features quite a few songs. Anyone have info on that?

I think it was called the 'eBay Demo Cassette' when that surfaced. I haven't heard those for a while. They may on the Live Hip Show Archive

Thanks for the info Sean, found it.
Sorry to be dense but where did you find them? The archive is a TREMENDOUS resource for all of us (and I am SO thankful for all the things I've found there), but I definitely discover new things from time to time that are hidden away in the folder structure. I've found demo sets for DFN, Fully Completely, Phantom Power, UTH, and Road Apples, but definitely didn't see anything from the EP era (or anything newer than Phantom Power). If you've found your way to others, would love to know what folder path got you there!
Anyone have Phantom Power demos?
Yes, I trawled through the incredible archive and found some of the demos, but didn't see the Road Apples one so would love a direct link to that. Whoever is maintaining that site is doing an incredible job, and I can understand the mammoth task of getting it all in order, but a separate section for demos would be a great addition if and when time allows for further organization. Awesome stuff!

Click any folder in the archive (example: demos or still to be sorted) and go to the search feature and type in Road Apples and/or Phantom Power. The ep demo search was a bit of a challenge by I found it. If you love the ep era (and who doesn't) your world is about to get rocked: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/ ... kNad2pXeTg
