With it all boiling down to Kingston on Saturday night, and odds being more so that this will be the final show, it got me thinking a bit. Out of all the years being a fan, all the concerts, what was your white whale? You know, that one song you chased to try and see live, but never did finally see it?
I feel pretty fortunate that a lucked into some rarities such as Emperor a couple of times, but my white whale is Trickle Down. That was one of my first favourite tracks, loved the gritty Stones sounding guitar riff intro. Out of all the concerts, I never did get a chance to experience it live.
So, excluding anything from the LP (although I know some on here did get that opportunity in the beginning), what was your White Whale? Just one.
I would Fight, for Cordelia. (See how I got my 2 in there)

Out of 27 shows, I have never got The Luxury. I really thought I had a shot this tour but they didn't play it in London (my only show). Obviously, the usual suspects on UTH, RA, DFN and a few others....
38 Years Old for me. In a strange twist, I actually am turning 38 years old today, but I have kissed a girl. Too many, in fact.
And speaking of the white whale, I'm reading Moby Dick right now. A real chewy read, but beautifully written.
Inevitability of death and something on. Was hoping to get a phantom power set last night to get something on, but alas no. But I can't complain, since they played 4 oldies (if you can call "new orleans is beat" an oldie) that I'd never seen before.
"Cordelia." I'd say "Thugs," which is by far and away my favourite Hip song, but I've actually heard it...just not enough times (once in 31 shows).
I've been chasing from the start, it seems. On the first Evening With tour, all I wanted to hear was Everytime You Go. They played it the twice, both the night before the shows I went to.
Since then: The Rules and An Inch and Hour are likely going to join the "never saw" list, along with Cordelia, Let's Stay Engaged and a handful of album tracks from Music @ Work onward. Finally got The Luxury at TO#1 and Eldorado on the Fully tour. Holding out hope for Thugs in Kingston.

I was lucky enough to be there for 38's return in 2006 at Fort York. Hamilton was show 38 for me and I was just waiting for one of my friends to throw the "38 Hip shows never kissed a girl" joke. Thankfully (sadly?) no dice.
My white whale(s) had been Escape is at Hand and Dire Wolf, but I was lucky enough to catch both at my Toronto shows! I hadn't thought about about my next white whale due to the circumstances, but if I had to choose it would probably be the ever-so-rare Darkest One.
Emperor is my white whale.
For chasing the dragon songs, there are a few. Fight. Lucky enough to catch on to the band pretty early, or I'm getting old, so saw this a few times and it was always a highlight. It's an OK song, I would not have it in my top 20, maybe even top 50, but live it brought out the full Gordie is those early days. Get back Again, amazingly saw it in Kingston, no recollection of it. Last one -- Put It Off.
A Beautiful Thing
Toronto #4
Two of my all time faves. Didn't get to hear them over 21 attempts.

Emergency. They don't play it and I don't know why. Does anyone else know?!
Just looking at my shows (23), this tour and last year's took out a lot of the ones I hadn't heard in person. So if I had to pick one, it would be 38 Years Old.
But no regrets. 8)
