IIRC, didn't he then invite the guy to come up and sing Cordelia with him? I had recorded that on VHS for a friend - he didn't really care for M@W until he watched the special - said Tiger the Lion sold him on the album.

I just watched this old VHS, as I was going through the archives. The guy does come on stage with him, and sings along with Cordelia. I'm going to find a way to transfer the hours of stuff I have onto DVD and such, and then I'll share them online.
The first show Hip show I saw back in 2004 (in Rochester), they played an "extended intro" to Wheat Kings during the encore. Before singing, Gord stated that he had to ask Paul for the first line to the song. I'm sure this happens more often than you think (with other bands too), and I can't think of anyone else who could roll with it better than Gord.
During Throwing Off Glass it seemed like he forget the entire melody for the first verse or 2. We tried to cheer him through it.

The rush and love that Gord feels from the stage must over-power him and surround him with a warmth that is irreplaceable. He has always missed lyrics for various reasons (as does every single singer on the planet). This tour Gord seems to really need to concentrate with the lyrics and timing. My late father had a brain injury and had memory issues. The challenges one faces are huge....and very complicated but....in some cases, other parts of the brain can overcome and fill in the blanks....and make things work. I cannot over-state....what Downie is doing is truly amazing. It is a treat for us fans and I really hope it is equaling as satisfying for him as well......He should be a world wide inspiration to all. Not only is he our beloved lead singer for our favorite band....The man is an inspiration to anyone with a similar ailment.... These shows are leaving me speechless!!! Heading to London in two days!!!! Turn that PA up and ROCK! Who cares about a few flubbed lyrics...
i never said i cared or thought it was an issue. i just asked if this was relatively new? like i said in the original post, i've been out of the "live hip loop" for a number of years now. it's been so long since i've seen them, i don't recall if he had issues with lyrics before.

again, i never said i cared or that i thought it was a problem. just a question after listening to live hip after a long long layoff.
There are obvious differences for obvious reasons
But this tour, for all the will and determination to prepare and execute, may just be the greatest rock n roll tour I've ever seen

:thumb: One of the most unique and courageous situations in Rock History...IMO..
And.....they are simply ROCKIN! This tour!!!

Mark, I certainly wasn't being confrontational in any way. I probably got a little too serious with my response...sorry. I actually play in several bands and have recently had to revert to lyrics scrolling on a tablet (my version of a prompter)! I think our brains are like hard drives on a computer...after a length of time, they get clogged with so much information, it's hard to get it to run smoothly...I can't remember lyrics for the life of my anymore (older songs are fine...newer ones give me fits!). Springsteen uses a prompter....Vedder doesn't (amazing to me!!!). Getting older is a challenge.....Cheers! :thumb:
And the fact many of us have seen all or most shows via periscope, connecting (mostly) with fellow Canadians coast to coast during the broadcasts, sharing anecdotes/comments/perspectives about what this band means to us as individuals and to all of us as a shared unique Canadian phenomenon, has made the entire experience truly unforgettable - not to mention the fact this band has made each show a unique experience and dug deep into their catalogue continues to inspire and amaze
It's a month I'll never forget for so many reasons
I've seen Bob Dylan literally get lost in a lyric on stage. It's like he's caught in a maze and can't figure out how to get out (which would be the case if you've lost your place in one of his vast lyrical labyrinths). Of course, Bob is so inscrutable that you're not even sure yourself whether he's doing it on purpose for some reason. Strange as this sounds, I hope Gord isn't beating himself up too much when he does blow a lyric. That "Q" interview where he spoke about needing 36 hours to get over a screw-up raises this possibility; but he is probably too exhausted between gigs, and perhaps too focused on the mission he's set for himself, to worry about it.

I was at that show too, one of the best I've been to. I still remember Wheat Kings vividly, I thought it was pretty funny that he couldn't remember how to start it! I know how that feels.
Gord could just stand up on stage while we all sing the songs for him! And I'd still have the utmost respect for the band. Looking forward to toronto #3 and hamilton to watch in person!!!! Going to be top 3 for highlights of my life!

Just remember that that guy's name was Cory. I don't know why, but I do.
Gord tells him he has to sing it with them if he wants them to play it.
