You can get a free trail from their website. Im listening to that channel live now. They are playing the new record and talking with Rob Baker between songs.
I'm listening on and off here at work, really hope someone is recording it! Some good stories from Baker so far about the recording process. He said that "Man" was originally just an added ending to "Machine", but it brought the track to 10 minutes so they broke it up.
Rob just also gave some good insight into "Get back again". If i knew how to record this i would be.
The Album

-there's more extra tracks for this album than others
-there's a companion "shadow album" that may see the light someday
-those tracks felt 'too personal or too awkward' to include on MMP
-they'll always be an "album" band first, it's easy to sequence an A side and B side
-titling a record and stuff away from actually playing the instruments is a pain

Man

-was born out of a jam at the end of Machine
-was going to close the album, and Machine was going to open
-that got switched somewhere along the line after re-thinking it
-an unusual choice to open an album

Producers

-producing the Hip is like negotiating with the UN Security Council
-two album max for producers
-first time, the producer is given lots of room to implement ideas
-second time, the band tends to restrict the producer's input
-Steve Berlin and Bob Rock both produced 2, and each got 1 great album
-they don't necessarily want producers to take them in new directions
-they just like the energy and fresh outside look at the music
-Rob wanted to record as a band, producers hate the mic bleed that results

Get Back Again

-example of 'nailing it on the first take'
-Rob and Gord S shared a look, they knew they had something special
-producer walked in and told them the tape wasn't running
-could never again capture the magic of that first take
-a studio version for Up To Here exists in their vault

Being On The Road

-a lot harder at 54 than 26
-wishes they could go right into the studio when they come off the road
-after a tour they stay in touch but generally go their own ways

General Tidbits

-Johnny played a beer bottle on Grace, Too
-there's an ocarina somewhere on Day For Night
-Gord nailed the first take on In Sarnia
-they're excited to see what they can do with Machine live
did anyone record this?

Thanks for the great rundown! Much appreciated.

They're replaying the Track By Track commentary today (Sunday June 19th) at 2pm, plus again Monday at 4pm. You can sign up for free to listen online. I'll try to record it today.
It would awesome if you could record. I have sirius for the car but I never seem to be in it when I need to. Don't want to sign up for a free trial for online since we don't pay for it in the car. Screw up on their end.

Awesome. thanks
Listened on my commute today. Nothing played I haven't heard before really...

I think the programming went like this:

Scared
As Makeshift As We Are
*Quick interview question*
Cordelia
Stripper's Union - Burn The Bridge Down
Boots Or Hearts
Fly
*Quick interview question
Lake Fever
Paul Langlois - Not Guilty
Man

And then I was at work!
Alright I was able to record this today. Enjoy! Please don't post the link elsewhere, I don't want any trouble from Sirius XM - I much prefer when these album commentaries used to be on Q107/Edge 102 instead of paid radio! There might be a few hiccups here and there but I'm pretty sure I caught the whole thing, and cut out the actual music. Hopefully sendspace works, I haven't used it in ages...

Awesome. Thanks. Going to give it a listen now.
