Song: Knock 3 Times
Artist: Dawn
in the song they say "one floor below me" and I thought, (right up until this post!), that they were saying "only for the lonely" lol oops!
Anyone else have lyrical mistakes?!
there's always the Jimi Hendrix classic "Excuse me while i kiss this guy" instead of the real lyric "Excuse me while i kiss the sky"  :jump
Peter Gabriel's "Jacques the Monkey"...
M.
"Big ol jet had a light on" which is actually "Big ol' jet airliner..." by Steve Miller.
High
Here's a site I found for many more:

They even have some on the Hip, although, someone's got to be pretty dense to think that:
"Get Ry Cooder to sing my eulogy..."
is actually:
"Get a raccoon to sing my eulogy..."

  OMG... Raccoon..WHY??
I think we are all guilty of singing the wrong words to at least one song

I may have no clue who Ry Cooder is, but at least I knew that was what he was saying!
I remember another lyrical mishap I had.
It came about because of hipbase.com. Someone make a post where we try to name as many people or places as we (posters) can FROM hip songs..
Well.. my brother got a GOOD laugh over this and I'm sure it will brighten the days of many who read it.
Chagrin Falls
Line: "Chagrin Falls Ohio"
my take on it: "Chagrin Falls are higher"
It was quite funny, I could never figure out WHAT they were higher than LOL! Mark was telling me that I knew a place from that song.. and I'm telling him they don't talk about a place other than Chagrin Falls.. then he told the correct wording

hahaha oops sorry gord and gang

I was driving around with my ex-girlfriend one day and Jimi Hendrix - Hey Joe came on.. she started singing along like she does to many songs... Then she sings "Angel" (drawn out) and I just turn and stare at her like she's got a 3rd arm coming out of her forehead.. and I'm like "What did you say???" lol, it was quite funny, poor girl was quite embarrased..

Haahah , I remember that . My most embarassing lyrical mistake , would date back to about 1992 , hearing Burton Cummings singing Stand Tall , the way he said Stand Tall , through an AM radio sounded like Centaur , I always pictured this mythological beast , damn that's embarrassing . :x
Speaking of Ry Cooder , I bought one of his cd's because of that lyric , and funnier yet got a few songs from Buena Vista Social Club ( thanks Kim  ) who are a band of elderly musicians from Cuba whom Ry Cooder brought together .

FUNNY!!!
i know this one person (relation to me will be kept a secret to avoid shaming her). she sings really well. but she totally screws up the entire lyrics. well maybe except for the chorus part. we eventually have to stop playing because a) we are lost. we don't know where in the song she is and b) we would be laughing sooo hard.
