Great news! Recently spoke with an arena promoter in Canada. Asked if he heard anything on The Hip coming around this year, and he said he tried to get them but was told they're opting for multiple dates at theatres instead.
Here's to hoping the setlists will be similar to past theatre tours!
That is excellent news if true. Although we should probably brace ourselves for what will likely be some outrageous ticket prices. Arena pricing was bad enough. Just imagine what they'll be charging for smaller theatres. Yikes! My bank account shudders at the thought.
Massey Hall stand. My body is ready.
Any news floating around if a new record is coming out in the spring (March)? I wonder if there are US and Canadian shows this year being that they toured pretty extensively last year.
Sure would be great to see a "Winter Fling" or "Spring Fling" type tour before a new album comes out.
Hard to believe its been 10 years since the amazing Summer Fling theatre tour.

The new record has apparently been finished for a while and I think Baker mentioned that it would be out in the spring. My guess is they'll do a few small promotional shows when the album comes out, and then tour extensively in the summer. They usually play the U.S. first, so I'm betting we won't see a full Canadian tour until the fall.
patiently waiting for an update
Great news. Hopefully theater tour means much better setlists than we've seen the last few years.
Sounds like at least the first leg of Pearl Jam's tour will be announced today. Sorry Hip, there goes my vacation time and concert budget.

Just bought tickets for Ottawa - missed them the one time they played Halifax. Decided that since they may never come back to Halifax, that the time was now to see them.

Interesting - I'm not sure they've extended the theatre tours to the Maritimes - if they do one I hope we don't get overlooked!

I have always thought that they should play the Imperial in Saint John.
I would travel from Ottawa to Saint John for this if it happened... However I don't think the boys think too fondly of my hometown.

Does anyone??
I've seen a couple of great shows at the Halifax Casino Schooner Room - I think that would be a pretty sweet venue for them and a couple of shows at the Cohn which have also been fantastic.

Do they still do shows at the Cunard Center down at the Peir? I've seen some great shows there (Feist, Queens of the Stone Age, 54-40, Sammy Rob Rob, Matty May May, JPs Emergency Band) and always thought it would be a great Hip venue!
