It's one thing to bitch about the set-lists, but, if Downie is going to ruin the show because he thinks he is the show....well then f**k him. The show in Kingston absolutely sucked. The band still sounds great though. Maybe it is time for the new Hip...introducing your new lead singer....Paul Langlois.
Guh? The show in Kingston was the best I've seen them in years, and I was fully on the "FFS stop yelling, gord" bandwagon.
Sorry I still heard the screaming. I listened to a live version of their show from Fort York in 2006 last night. That was the band I remember, gems all over the place, and all members were on their game. Just my opinion.
I haven't been to a show on this tour, mostly because of the ridiculous ticket prices. But I've watched a lot of youtube clips from recent shows, and Gord sounds pretty damn good for the most part. His voice has changed a lot over the years, and there's no way he'll ever be able to sing the way he did in the 90s, so you just have to take it for what it is. He still sounds great in the studio though. His singing on NFPA was excellent, and although I'm basically done with them as a live band, I'm still looking forward to their next album.
Come to Ottawa for Bluesfest...
The 'Pick 3' Option is $99, and you get yer choice of any three days. And those passes are cheaper than the price of tix this past Feb @ the Bell Center.
In all seriousness, I'd ask Downie... Why no roc doc or bio book dude? A proper roc doc would be so awesome.

Agreed on both counts. There have been brief histories written about them, such as the CanRock bio "Have Not Been the Same" where they had a chapter devoted to them. But I can't believe that no one has written a full biography on them yet.

I can tell you that the band is not yet interested in looking back in the form of a book. I've personally broached the subject before.
It will likely happen in the future though, (My opinion) and when it does it'll probably be a writer they hand-pick themselves.
Gordon Downie...What do you think about all the bored lifeless losers out there posting their opinions and beliefs about the life you are living? Do they not have a life of their own?
