If it is Danforth, capacity of 1500, so 2 tickets assumed per winner, that's 750 winners in total. I wonder how many people are within the region (capable of attending) have entered the contest, 20000? 30000? 40000? 50000? 60000?
Odds aren't horrible I suppose 1:80 or so......"there's a chance"........

94.9 The Rock is promoting this show so the odds are getting less and less in our favour

Tickets are non-transferable and selected participants will need to bring photo identification and have their guests with them to pick up their tickets.I'm confused by the logistics. Tickets are cash only, and if you put in for a pair, both people have to be present to pick up the tickets. You also only have until Friday at 5pm to claim tickets. If this is the process, I'm thinking this is going to be difficult. I'm wondering if they mean that you have 24 hrs to say, yes, I'm going (i.e., "claim"), and then you pick up and pay for the tickets the night of. Or do both people have to be present to pick up the tickets Friday?
On Thursday, Dec 8th at 5pm, all participants selected to purchase tickets will be sent an email with additional details. Those selected to purchase tickets will have 24 hours to claim their tickets or they will be offered to another participant.
Anyone else understand this differently? I'm just thinking that this is going to make it difficult for some people who may have put their name in, but can't go through these steps (i.e., come into Toronto twice).
Ahh, Thursday morning ponderings.....

I'm with you on these ponderings, as someone trying to juggle some final days at work and a move this weekend, on top of trying to get into this show.
I'm hoping the following happens: you have 24 hours to confirm you will purchase the tickets. Then you pay, with your guest, Saturday, at the location to be announced (maybe Danforth; maybe Sound Academy; maybe Zanzibar). When, inevitably, there are no-shows, some dedicated diehards who huddle around the door are let in (similar to the IBE release shows at the Mod Club in 2004).

the only thing I am hoping for is an email in my inbox at 5:00 pm today. Everything else is semantics.
Good luck to all

If you are selected, you have 24 hours to return the email saying yes or no. When you get to the Music Hall, you show ID, get your tickets, pay the $20 and continue diretly into the venue. Basically the same as the 2009 Music Hall warm up show, except pay at the table, not prepaid.

whats the word?

Haven't heard anything yet. Really really hoping to get selected. My boyfriend has never been to Toronto, and we were going to wait until the spring... but if this opportunity presents itself, can't pass it up even if it is -40 with the wind chill! I guess it helps working for the world's largest chain of hotels (Employee discount all over the world!).
Also, I'm just realizing now that I've never actually been to a concert in Toronto ever...
Good luck everyone! If I had it my way, everyone on Hipbase would have the first crack at tickets.

As a long-time "registered user" it's slightly frustrating that this is being promoted so heavily, and presumably thousands of new people are joining the mailing list and having an equal shot at tickets. But whatever, it is what it is. Can't complain about it.
I just wonder what the actual, tangible benefit to them is to have all these new users on the mailing list.
