Hopefully in 2014 they will do tour celebrating 20th anniversary of Day for Night. Would love to hear that album played in its entirety.

So when is this so-called announcement supposed to happen? It's been over two weeks since McCown made his little blurb, and not a peep from the Hip camp as per usual. If they could let us know before Christmas, that would be great. Maybe he was alluding to the upcoming Sadies/Downie album?

I'd love a DFN anniversary tour. If it sounded good. I can't deal with having Grace, Too butchered one more time.

The thing is Bob McCown has never broken anything music-related ever. As a listener for years, It's just such an out-of-place blurb, modern music gets almost zero mention (understandable, it's a sports show) that I feel it has to be a Sportsnet/Rogers related thing coming.

Best I can think of is a possible contest to win some sort of 'roadtrip' with tickets and accomodations to say Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final or perhaps the Leafs first home playoff game (hence the waiting) which would include a private show with The Hip in the same city? It pretty much has to be something like that.

Next best guess is they are just working on pinning down a date for Gord to come in for an interview, but doesn't seem like it would be that hard unless they want the whole band, or Gord + other notable frontmen/musicians for a roundtable.

Third, and very unlikely, Bob occasionally mentions his own business ventures, but the only one of note lately is he recently bought a wineary in the niagara region, so there is a very outside chance it would be some sort of acoustic show there to help promote it, but I'd put that at slim-to-none.

Rule out concert tour or album news, I'll eat my hat if that sort of thing gets announced on a sports show

I do think Bob owns some sort of a production company that had it's hands in a recent Rush concert DVD, so if you are looking at connections he has to music, that's a possibility.

Ian Blurton is known for his raw, edgy production. So if this rumor is true, then this is excellent news. If anybody can bring out the rawness of the original FC tracks, he's definitely the guy to do it. Could this potentially be the start of a full scale reissue of the Hip's classic albums? Agree with the entire post. Hilarious if this 'news' is another half assed re-issue of one of the easier hip albums to obtain. Give us Phantom Power on vinyl!

I love that song. I've never understood the hate that World Container gets. One of their better albums in my opinion, despite Bob Rock's excessive production.

am I the only one in the world that loves all their albums??? i think in general in violet light is the weakest album but i still love it!! What i didn't love in that during that album tour they really changed and started moving backwards. They had changed a bit for music at work but the roots of phantom power and henhouse were still there in that album, in voilet light tour was definitely forgettable now looking back!

Well if FC is in fact being rereleased (vinyl or just remastered) it isn't Ian Blurton doing it. Would have made sense as he has had ties to the band for a long time. Only two songs they've ever done that i don't really care for are World Container, and Country Day, but luckily for me, those were the last songs on their respective albums, so it's been fairly easy to avoid them. If I had to choose between the two, i would pick World Container over Country Day.

That's still pretty close to battin' a thousand tho.

Update on the tease:

Prime Time Sports came back for it's final segment with Blow At High Dough as the bumper music... which led to a brief exchange between Bob and co-host Damien Cox that went along the lines of admitting that neither were a hardcore fan, but they enjoyed the band, with Damien saying he became hooked on the live show and Gord in particular and that "they should go to a show soon"

to which Bob perked up and said, 'ah perhaps some announcements soon!'

to which Damien responded and asked if they were going to play in Bob's notoriously large backyard, they laughed it off and moved on.


I can't believe it would be a few concert announcements but this exchange strongly leaned that way
