I also am very optimistic Smile

Hey guys!!! It has been a while since I have been on the boards. So busy with career and being so far away sometimes I get lost in all that is not my favorite band. Hopefully this too will change.

Good news from what I am reading, sounds like they are not done. New stuff...maybe? Gord looking and sounding good - Rob sounding positive- that is indeed good news. It's been way too long since I have gotten to see them and I really could use a Hip showing sometime soon.
thechubb44 Wrote:i think the question here is not are they done but are we done? i probably am although i'd be interested in what they might put out next. The albums have been really mediocre for a long time. the live shows apparently arent very good. gord cant sing but the band itself has tons of talent. break off and find form a real rock band. not the sadies, no disrespect and not some crap solo project except for paul - he seems to know what it takes.

The Sadies not a real rock band? Totally disagree with you there. Those guys are a freakin' powerhouse of a band, not to mention insanely talented musicians. Their collaboration with Downie is my favorite album of the year so far, and I think it's easily one of the best things Gord has ever been involved in. They're already talking about doing another album together, and I can't wait to hear what they give us next.
Are they done? = No. Simple math.
I agree with Direwolf74 completely. I like The Sadies sound. They are very talented and put out good music. And Gordie joining in YAY
What is true will stay;
All else falls away.

Come from the other side, the inside. Gordon Downie uses music (the hip) to express his experience. You and I use this board to express ours.

just like most of the "fans" here lately. I, too, would neglect you. Let all of the "pop" instant gratification types move on to the latest "pleasing" bands, ("Oh they are so cool"...... look at his swag!) Move on simple fans. Move on to your simple one-hit wonders.

Contrary to what many musicians and people in the music industry believe, it is NOT about the music, or fans for that matter. Music (musician) is too shallow of a life experience.

I was a musician once.
What's the buzz? Tell me what's happening?

Not a peep from the Hip camp whatsoever, other than a couple of announcements regarding the Gord/Sadies summer tour. A couple of months ago producer/musician Ian Blurton posted a tweet about Fully Completely being remastered, which got everyone intrigued about possible album reissues. One would think the band has at least started writing for the next record, if there is one. Like most folks here I'm just hoping that once they reconvene, they'll be able to repair their damaged live show. Downie seems really invigorated by his experience with the Sadies, and his singing lately has been excellent. Case in point:

Whether or not he chooses to sing this well with the Hip remains to be seen. I guess we'll find out eventually.
man, the guitar work in the last minute of 'devil enough' is just so awesome...
Yeah. I look forward to the last half of that song every time.
Rather than them come out with another mediocre album in a year of two, I'd rather wait for even a few more years and have them do an incredible album again. Even if I had to wait 10! Unfortunately for me, their last incredible album was 19 years ago with Day For Night. Wow, that was a long time ago. I mean I like all their albums, but I prefer everything pre- henhouse as most older fans do. The really frustrating thing is I know they have it in them to make another incredible album. All they'd need to do is look at WHY they became so famous. What was it that made us love Up to Here & Fully Completely so much? This thing you always say about going back to your roots; You never really do. Go back you your DEEP roots and you'll re-establish yourselves as the greatest band Canada has ever known again. You'll be legendary!

Anyhoo, realistically, I'll bet we'll have to wait at least a couple more years and then we'll see a pretty good new Hip album. Crossing my fingers anyway

When dropping "information" like that, you should certainly source it.
