Ok...we had the 10 most beautiful songs to you thread...now lets have a thread of 5 songs with lyrics that relate to how you feel in your life thread.

I will start:
1) Imagine...John Lennon..if only there were peace, no divisions..I wish that everyday
2) Dancing Nancies..DMB...What would life be like if I had been someone else?
3) Stereo..Watchmen...Life it flies by....can I keep up??
4) Heaven's Here on Earth..Tracy Chapman..I don't believe in an afterlife, therefore..we should make the best of it now... "look around, believe in what you see"
5) Don't worry..Be Happy...Bobby McFerrin...always loved this song..self explanatory

Ok..your turn: :jump
The Hip - Emporer Penguin I think I was one in my past life Tongue

Seriously...as serious as I can be tonight anyway...

>Allman Bros - Change My Ways..."I gotta change my way of livin', cos the blues is all I see". That actually motivated to make some important and necessary changes because, truly, trouble was all I was seeing.
>Bobby Bland - Goin' Down Slow. About gettin' in trouble and wishin you had a place to call home...
>R.E.M. - Find the River...running out of time, worrying about your place in the world...
>Neil Young - Sugar Mountain. How much control do we really have over our destinies? Don't we all (sometimes) wish we'd never turned 20?
>Stan Rogers - 45 Years...because I would really like to know what it feels like to love someone like this. Thought I knew it once...but...well, that was a long time ago. At the time it made me think I could identify with him, but now I realize I've got so much further to go...
Hmm I really need to think about this one. One that comes right away though is "who feels love" Oasis.
I also really relate to "home" Depeche mode.
Need more time to think. Confusedcratch:
Good question Jen. :thumb:
Thanks Angie
Okay, I know it may be hard to come up with 5 songs...how about 1 or 2??
Oh eeep. Jen, just as I think I am going to be productive, get some Christmas shopping done, give the cat a bath, update my resume...you go and create a thread like this... *snarl* Actually...I think it's a great topic...just going to require lots of thinking and lyrical research and analysis...Anyways...songs...

Barenaked Ladies- For You- This is from their lastest effort "Everything to Everyone" and the last two lines of the chorus just ripped out my heart and read my mind...simultaneously. "If I hide myself wherever I go, am I ever really there?".

Bruce Springsteen- The River -This song asks the ultimate question about ambitions and ideals..."Is a dream a lie if it don't come true, or is it something worse?"... *sigh* It seems to be the ageless question of the artistic, or at least the restless.

Ben Folds - Still Fighting It - Sums up all my sentiments about how I feel in this time in my life...not a child, not an independent adult, and fighting like hell to figure it all out.. "Everybody knows it hurts to grow up and everybody does. It's so weird to be back here"

That's all I can come up with for now...I'm sure th list will be edited/added upon in due time.

Normally they are...but kitty got into a sticky mess of sap the other day and his fur is in clumps...so he needs a bath before he wears himeself out trying to get to the matts in his fur. Sad poor baby.

If you see something that looks like a star
And it's shooting up out of the ground
And your head is spinning from a loud guitar
And you just can't escape from the sound
Don't worry too much, it'll happen to you
We were children once, playing with toys
And the thing that you're hearing is only the sound of
The low spark of high-heeled boys

The percentage you're paying is too high priced
While you're living beyond all your means
And the man in the suit has just bought a new car
From the profit he's made on your dreams
But today you just read that the man was shot dead
By a gun that didn't make any noise
But it wasn't the bullet that laid him to rest was
The low spark of high-heeled boys

If you had just a minute to breathe and they granted you one final wish
Would you ask for something like another chance?
Or something similar as this? Don't worry too much
It'll happen to you as sure as your sorrows are joys
And the thing that disturbs you is only the sound of
The low spark of high-heeled boys

If I gave you everything that I owned and asked for nothing in return
Would you do the same for me as I would for you?
Or take me for a ride, and strip me of everything including my pride
But spirit is something that no one destroys
And the sound that I'm hearing is only the sound
The low spark of high-heeled boys
I've thought about it Jen, here are my 5 songs. I've changed the topic slightly though, to how those songs make me feel. Hope that's alright.

* Another Midnight - The Hip: I really love this song, when I listen to it i'm happy. It really moves me and makes me feel good.

* A long december - Counting Crows: A song that makes me a littlebit sad, bur it's beautiful nonetheless. Especially at this time of year, thinking about all the things that happened this year. Makes me feel hopeful.

* Street spirit - Radiohead: A mysterious song. It has a strange feel to it. Love the way it creeps up on me. Makes me feel melancholic.

* LA woman - The Doors: In my opinion one of the bests songs ever. It has everything. Every year when it's 5 to 12 on new year's eve we play this song really loud and dance our way into the new year. Makes me feel like dancing, not many songs have that power Wink

* Rearviewmirror - Pearl Jam: A fast song that really gets me pumped. This song gives me energy, I like to listen to it when I'm feeling a littlebit down, always ready to face the world afterwards.

Ok, Pieter...I will remember to play LA Woman for our first dance when we meet
Ok, now that my self-imposed exile due to exams is lifted, I can think about more interesting topics  my 5 songs in no particular order.

5 Days in May-Blue Rodeo:this song always makes me think about the mix of emotions that make up remembering past relationships-joy, love, laughter and bittersweet envy.

Elias- Dispatch. The vibe i get from this song is simply amazing, especially the beginning and ending parts :thumb:

Bleed a Little While Tonight- Lowest of the Low. nuff saidBig Grin

Time Murder Ballad- Chris Brown and Kate Fenner. This song always gets me thinking about how powerless we are against death and the struggle we put up against it.

Springtime in Vienna- The Hip. For one of my most cherished quotes "We live to survive our paradoxes"
Those were the days - Mary Hopkins
I was 11 years old and my girlfriend was the only one with a recordplayer.. Very special in 1968. We danced, like little girls do, for hours and hours… Always on this song.

Listen to the ocean - Nina & Frederik
I was 7 months pregnant (after a miscarriage from 4 month) when my husbands father died. Feeling very insecure and frightened something would go wrong with this baby too, I listened in my rockingchair to this song to get calm again. And it helped cause my son is almost 21 now.. 

Stairway to heaven – Led Zeppelin and Tears in Heaven – Eric Clapton
On 01-01-2001 our village suffered from a great tragidy when a local pub caught fire. 14 youngsters died and 380 got injured. 50 of them very very badly. We were lucky cause our eldest son was ill that night. It saved his life. Friends, classmates weren’t that lucky. Those two songs remember me to the horror of that night.

Lookin’ out the window – SRV
This song makes me feel very special and happy…

Grace too – TTH
This is my favourite hipsong I guess. It’s always a difficult choice between Another Midnight and Grace… and it depends on how I feel.. but today it’s Grace day. I hoped the Hip would play song on the concert I attented in Amsterdam, but they didn’t.
This is hard... there are many that match certain moments so it is hard to narrow them down
Some that i can think of:

Radiohead- Fake Plastic Trees... (always love this, the story of my life... "if I could be, who you wanted, all the time")
Neil Young- Harvest Moon (so sweet, my ideal.. "i'm still in love with you, I wanna see you dance again")
Counting Crows- 'Round Here... ("and she walks along the edge, where the ocean meets the land, just like she's walking on a wire in the circus"... always used to do this... "she has trouble acting normal when she's nervous"... heh that's me... eccentricity)
REM- Everybody Hurts.... thanks :thumb:
Hip- Scared (first dance)
