96 - 99 has some great shows and they sounded great
the whole 96 henhouse tour was insane
The 'Live From The Vault' from Cleveland 1996 is my favourite release in that series. Wish they would still play 'Apartment Song', 'Sherpa' and 'Put It Off' regularly!

Just because Pearl Jam an Phish do something isn't a reason that The Hip should too.
The majority of bands don't release anything live. And I'd wager that a significant percentage of touring acts aren't even performing live... Or if they do they've got heavy backing tracks.

the list goes on
Pretty much everyband that improvises and does something different on stage each night
I would understand if the hip played the same set list each night, but since each show is different it would be nice for their fans

From where I sit it seems as though your view of the world of live music is pretty small - in that your list from livedownloads might contain a couple hundred bands, but there are tens of thousands of bands out there. What I'm saying is that it's a small percentage that do it.
And as for backing tracks - it's common for touring acts to use them. Rock, pop, dance, Top 40, whatever - they all use 'em. Some bands even employ additional musicians who play off the stage. For example - U2 have employed all manner of techniques to recreate their album sound in a live setting.
And what bad energy? I love live music and live recordings - so much so that I've spent a small fortune on equipment and travel to see, record and share that experience with others.

That list is a small amount of bands, i am sure there are other websites
in fact the guy who runs live downloads is canadian so i am suprised the hip arent on it
as for my musical perspective, i am only really into live improvised music, as for artist such as current pop artists that a perfect show is to sound like an album just not my thing!

All i am saying is that the hip are missing out on some cash and fans are missing out on hearing some great shows

Are The Hip missing out on a revenue stream by not releasing live recordings? In my opinion, yes.
Should The Hip be releasing live recordings through LiveDownloads or another service? In my opinion, yes.

Phish on the other hand is peaking right now! after a couple years off! there shows are interesting, entertaining and fans appreciate it ! This might be why you are hearing so much about them right now. Cause they are delivering some great enterainment
I am hoping the hips new album is amazing followed by a strong tour, that will focus more on jamming out the tunes like they used too , vs gords well thought of dance moves

They are losing out big money, I would pay $100 for a box set of all the ARA shows on dvd for sure, those shows had ENERGY in the crowd that reflected back on the stage and back off into the crowd, now days there are just to many people standing around, probably has to do with the fact that were all older now and not as flexable and energetic as we used to be , but yea those damn Hip should put together a box set of dvds of ARA, I would preorder the shit out of that.
