That was...bizarre.

Confusedcratch:
hahahahaha that's hilarious. HAS to be an inside joke.

Also, I say this because a few people have looked at these videos and feel the same way...does anyone else sense a tension between the band and the producer or something? Doesn't seem like as much fun. This is obviously massive speculation coming from random short clips, and I know nothing about anything - just thought i'd ask if anyone felt the same way
I, too, felt the Iron Maiden vibe, a la Alexander The Great! Could be very cool live.
I like the direction Downie's hotel voice is going.
inside joke? - yes
disappointing? - yes
producer gets too much face time in these videos? - yes

Funny, I don't sense any sort of tension at all between band and producer. If anything, I think the guys look like they're kind of worn out. Let's not forget, they've been working on this record on and off for the better part of a year. I'm sure they're at the point where they're ready to finish the damn thing up and just put it out already.

Tension? Not from my perspective. To take the time and be in the mood/mindset to record a version of Raspoutine I think they're having a great time. And getting along great with Gavin.

And does anyone else think he's Rob's long lost pudgier brother?

haha - yes to pudgier brother.

Is that the band playing and gord singing? I wasn't sure.

Making a record is tough work - I was just throwing the tension thing out there but you're right that if anything, this video is proof that things are going swimmingly.

Is that the Hip playing and singing?

I didn't think it was when I saw it...

It looked like the video was just cleverly shot to have the music in the song fit into the video. To me it looked like they were clearly jamming out to a different song... All of the style is so different than anything theyve ever done. If they are playing on it, consider me fooled.

That's what I thought also, I thought it was just Paranoid Pictures having fun with their filming of The Hip.
But I have been wrong at least once in my life, so maybe I am again.
I'm confident that it's The Hip and maybe Chris Koster singing the chorus; Gord is doing the verse.

And in the comments on Facebook I think that MAv basically confirmed it was The Hip performing it.
Really? That so did not sound like the Hip. It reminded me of System of a Down meets The Plastic People of The Universe.
Just had another listen to it. That's not the Hip. Me thinks MAv is pulling our chains.

You really don't think that's Gord singing the verses?
