My guess is they have a bunch of songs already in mature generation studio mixes. Now that they've played some of the new stuff live they might refine the songs that will make the cut and then move on to the final mixes and production. Record lables also have a significant say on release dates - its actually a refined process that looks at market absorption potential i.e. they'll typically avoid releasing the album at the same time as a Rush or Neil Young release. All speculation of course, but I would be surprised if we see anything before Fall, or later.
I'm hoping their gonna film some stuff in the studio, and give us fans a first listen to the new songs live, thats my hope anyways.

"In other news . . . on Sunday, the guys move into the studio. Expect some clips to surface from this in the near future. AND lastly, we'll be sending an email out Sunday night to announce some SHOWS. Registered users will have the first crack at tickets, so please make sure you register at the site."

Moving into the studio, eh. So does this mean they're still recording and that the album isn't even close to being finished? Or perhaps they're just doing the mixing and adding a few overdubs? Dammit, I need more info!

To be fair to them, they've only been talking about this and working on it for the last 2 years. That's not nearly enough time to make a full album.
Can't wait for the Niagara announcement, along with their 4 night stint at Bill's Bar in Boston.
MMP and Forever don't sound very good. That might be a good sign, though. They could grow on me ,unlike some songs that I liked right away and then got tired of after a while. Gord's voice doesn't sound good on MMP and Forever based on what I heard. It's too sharp. Hopefully the album sees the light of day before 2014.
Hi Folks,

We are excited to announce that we will be celebrating Canada Day Weekend with you!

Our first stop will be June 30th, where we will celebrate the bi-centennial of the War of 1812 by setting up camp at The Commons, at the historic Butler's Barracks in Niagara On The Lake. Sunday, July 1st we will head north to Oro, Ontario, to the heart of cottage country, for a Canada Day show at Burl's Creek.

Today (Monday, February 27th) at 10am ET we will be offering you the chance to purchase VIP tickets to both shows. Only you, our registered users, will have access to this limited number of tickets.

The VIP ticket will give you 'fast pass' access into the venue, as well your own designated VIP viewing area with your own washrooms, separate cash bar, and food and merch tents. There is also a limited number of VIP parking passes available, that will give you access to a separate parking lot. Only one person per car requires the VIP parking pass. Along with your tickets, you will need to bring photo ID to gain access to the parking lot, as well as the 'fast pass' entrance. VIP tickets are $125 + service fees.

Our General Admission pre-sale will start at 10:00am ET on Thursday, March 1st. A limited number of early bird GA tickets for $59.50 + service fees, will be made available only to you Once those are gone, the GA tickets are 69.50 + service fees. We will also be offering a limited number of 2 - Day GA tickets for $99.50 +service fees.

Meh. Not my scene. I'm hoping for a small venue tour of Canada and/or the north eastern US to follow...

I think these two shows would be an amazing 2 day adventure, but like you - not my scene. I made the face from my avatar when I saw the email.

edit: that 2 day pass is a great idea, and pretty innovative from what I have seen from other bands.

Okay don't quote me on this but I am hearing VIP "L" shape side and in front and trying for some type of chair even? Not sure if they can make it happen like that.
I hope the trade deadline is a little more exciting!

I would need to hear that from Gord D himself before I ever consider vip again.

Fuck Yea. Chairs. Sometimes a guy just needs a place to sit his ass down , I would not mind chairs as I have a bad back and this standing up for 8 hours makes me lay down for the following 24. Had to leave from the front at the Downsview show last Canada day to go lay down on the grass as my back got so freakin sore.

As for L shape area with front of stage access. Sweet but hopefully the regular people dont start tossing shit at the vip area if it pushes them farther back.
