Word around Kingston is that the Hip are working on a new album with a new producer at their studio The Bathouse.
Album will be done by March with a release in fall 2012.
A few small concerts are in the works leading up to the release with a full tour in early 2013.
God I can't wait that long.

I really don't want to believe that. I've already been putting aside some road trip cash specifically for an anticipated Hip tour this year, so it's gotta happen in 2012. Waiting an entire year would just feel like torture. My prediction: new album comes out this summer accompanied by a U.S. summer/fall tour. (traditionally they've always toured the States in the spring/summer/fall months). A full Canadian tour will be launched next winter.
Ya when you say done by march? I'm pretty sure its been done for atleast afew months now, i think by now the album is done for sure, My hope is we get some word from the band by Mid February about the album and tour. Their going to get this out in the second quarter for sure.
Im bettin on a few summer shows leading up to a fall release of the new stuff.

With the announcement of The Hip holding a meeting with regards to the new album and tour schedule - I have to guess everything will be happening a hell of a lot faster than what you have stated.

I was thinking the same thing. I'm still gonna stick with my summer release/U.S. tour prediction.
Don't forget the Hip celebrate a big anniversary as a band in 2013. It would make sense to release the album in the fall and gear up for a 30th anniversary tour in the New Year.
Surprised there's no speculations as to where the Bobcaygeon DVD plays into all of this.

Crossed my mind as well, but I think thinks thats just too far off to wait on this album, I'm sticking to an April or May release, hopefully some summer Canadian dates, but most likely summer U.S. then a fall/winter Canadian tour...
