Danforth Music Hall - Rehearsal - April 2009

This clip comes from a visit to the Danforth Music Hall, a couple of days before The Fan Club show.

I walked into the theatre while the guys were in the middle of an acoustic rehearsal session after getting one of those magical phone calls that I get every now and then. It turns out that the guys were trying out some songs they hadn't played in a really, really, long time - but of course, I didn't know at the time what I was about to see, so I was pretty amazed when they started to play the Bear and then they played Cordelia.

They ended up playing the Bear 4 times on that tour, the first being at the Danforth Hall Fan show a few days later - only the second time the had ever played it.

Cordelia, on the other hand, was never played on the 2009 tour and has been played only once since 2000 - July 05, 2007. The second of a two night stand at The Kee in Bala - two more memorable Fan Club Shows.

More great videos to come.

Now I'm getting hyped for the shows!
So awesome! Thanks for sharing.
has sinclair always played acoustic 6 string on the bear? Is Paul on bass? New?
That's how it's always been done I believe

The strange part is seeing Paul and Gord Sinclair on opposite sides of the stage.

At the actually show, when they finished playing the song, Gord Downie looked to his right and said to Sinclair "You're not Paul."

Kinda funny.

I was at the Danforth Fan Club show and The Bear was by far the highlight of the show. It was amazing. Hearing Cordelia acoustic would have been a real treat too. I also really enjoyed The Trews acoustic version of Thugs that is posted in another thread. I love when bands have acoustic sets mid way through their set or as an opening. If The Hip were to do this again there are a ton of songs I'd love to hear but Thugs would be at the top of the list after watching The Trews video.
