I am a Huge fan of the self titled album and Road Apples as well a huge fan of World Container & We Are The Same and yes I agree it's time to drop Bob Rock. Heck drop all producers Paul & Johnny have produced records for other bands why not put their collective heads together and produce their own album. It is time they do that!!!

A Tragically Hip Album produced solely by The Hip!!

Well, they did do that with TATH. While "Cocunut Cream" was perhaps the lowest point of the band's career, that album does contain some killer songs.

I'm pretty sure Gord Sinclair will be producing this album. I have it on pretty good authority.

Hip plans on summer shows

Tragically Hip guitarist Paul Langlois said the band is going to do some summer shows before releasing their next studio disc, which they are currently writing and recording at their Bathouse Studio in Kingston, Ont.

"We just thought, 'Well, why don't we do a few shows for fun and get together and play and we'll record a record as we go and try and get a record done by the end of the year.' That's the hope," he told QMI Agency.

For now, Langlois said the entire band is producing the new record.

"It's all of us," he said. "We're doing this all together. And we're in the very early stages. So we have, in our first three two-day sessions, seven or eight songs, a couple of which obviously seem stronger than others. So it's all experimental though because we might wake up one day and say, 'OK, let's record the whole thing again.' But for now, we're trying to get a real, positive fun environment."

And soundwise?

"So far, I think everyone's intention is to get it a little more raw, a little more simplified. But a lot of times it's accidental what sound comes out. Certainly now, it's pretty rocky, which is good, but hard to tell at this point too."

Is this perhaps a new logo for a CD, or for tour posters for the summer? It's the logo on the Hip's facebook page. I like it!

This is good news!

I was hoping for maybe a Gordie Johnson produced record, but I'll accept a self-produced disc.

I'm excited to hear how it will sound by keeping everything internal.

I was fortunate enough to speak to Joel Plaskett about Gordie Johnson as a producer, Joel says he has "the ear" for those good sounds and everything. Given his track record, Gordie Johnson would be a spectacular producer, even if i am slightly biased (because I am a huge Big Sugar fan).
