The band's new record, slated for a spring 2011 release, will be titled COLLAPSE INTO NOW. BBC6Music first reported the title following a conversation with Bertis who was in Manchester earlier this week for In The City, a music business conference.

Can't wait to hear it. It'll be interesting to see if they can top Accelerate, which in my opinion is the best record they've made since New Adventures in Hi-fi. The good news is they worked with producer Jacknife Lee again on the new one, so hopefully the results are just as excellent.
I just saw that Eddie Vedder and Patti Smith each appear on separate tracks on this album.

100% agree with that. Accelerate was something else. I still keep that in rotation actually. Living Well and Houston never get old they're so kickass. Also captures that energetic kind of live-ish punch that hasn't been in one of their records since...before 1990.

I'm so pumped for this album.
You can download 'Discoverer' on R.E.M.'s website now, as well as through Facebook.
Cool song! It picks up right where Accelerate left off, but it also reminds me of something that might have appeared on "Green" way back in the day. I like it.
Dare I say Fables of the Reconstruction era? It's very old school.
* the more I listen to it the more it reminds me of New Adventures In High-fi.
I'm listening to this album right now, and it's really fucking good. "Accelerate" was such a marvelous comeback and I wasn't sure if they could top it. But this new record is brilliant. It absolutely destroys the new Radiohead disc in my opinion. Yea, that's right. I said it.

You may be correct.
It is only one listen, but I am totally diggin' this album.
Wow people! Check it out.
And on the Radiohead note, I am hoping the computer generated Radiohead album grows on me. I hated Thom Yorke's solo computer drum loop album until it matured on me.
