What are your favorite songs/aspects of this performance? Sorry if this thread has been started before. I searched but didn't find any threads about it. If there is one already, promptly delete this rubbish. My apologies.

A few of my favourite things about TNIT...

Fully Completely --> Grace, Too (Phenomenal transistion)
Summer's Killing Us (An excellent example of Johnny Faye kicking some ass)
Silver Jet (The last ever performance of Silver Jet was at this concert)
Nautical Disaster (You know the story, no guts no glory)
Three Pistols

A few things that I'm not crazy about on TNIT...

Springtime In Vienna (Downie should never be behind a guitar for this tune. When he isn't, my gad he gives er hell for Springtime.)
The crowd (Half the time it looks like they're watching paint dry. The next Hip DVD should be filmed at a GA show, if you ask me).
The 'Greastest Hits-ness' of it all. I understand that it is their first DVD, and a greatest hits type set makes sense if you want to sell DVDs... but as Hip fans, we know how awesome Pigeon Camera and Tiger The Lion (etc.) are live.

My two cents.

I like the Love is a curse/firs rants in Fully Completely and Three Pistols, The Sped up middle section of Meridian and the "Fly" rants during grace, Blow and several other songs. The version of poets was the first live song by the hip that i ever listened to, and this was before i heard any of gord's rants. at first i was confused as to why he was talking about a dorsal fin at the end of the song...lol

Haha, no kidding. I've attended quite a few rock shows in Toronto over the years, especially when I was living in Ottawa. Not sure what it is, but I always found the crowds in TO to be incredibly lame. Ottawa too.

Meridian was indeed a highlight in my opinion.

Ottawa...the town that Fun forgot. But I still call it home.

Makeshift as we are is an awesome performance here.

I also have to agree the crowd is mega lame, Ive never been to a show where the crowd was that tame. Even when I saw them at the ACC for the World Container tour the front was rushed and people were dancing their hearts out.

How would a GA show be any better? :roll: That would be a bunch of drunk idiots fighting up front and then a bunch of people looking like they're watching paint dry everywhere else, unless it was in filmed in Kingston. Then most of the crowd would be rowdy drunks, I suspect.

What are you guys talking about?!?!? The WATS Ottawa shows were ROUTY!!!!!! It thought I saw one person standing up once but it turns out he was just very tall.......

I've only seen that happen on PEI for Hip shows. GA in Montreal was awesome. People dancing and singing all around. Or so it appeared to me.

I was at this show, to bad my highlight wasn't on the DVD. I was 3rd row center on the floors and some drunk passed out on my now ex-girlfriend from the row behind us. I caught him on the way down to give her time to get out of his way.

What I do remember was the floor was pretty rocking, maybe it just doesn't translate well to the DVD but the crowd was pretty cool from what I remember.

I have to disagree about the "greatest hits" feel of it all, frankly if I'm just a casual fan, not a hardcore fan I want those songs that I'm going to want to listen to over and over again. The fact is most of us have seen the Hip several times, some of us over a dozen times so we have heard everything over and over again. You have to cater to the casual fan who will only buy the dvd if they recognize all the songs, and not the hardcore fan that's going to buy it regardless. Remember that the DVD was originally packaged with their greatest hits collection.

It was recorded in HD - but it was not released on Blu-ray.
I have seen it several times in HD on TV.
