I have been to U2 and other big name bands and you pay over $100 to be on the roof. I know you are saying well they are not as popular and that is why they are in this price range but who the hell can you see for much cheaper than this and you can still be sitting in the front row
VioletlightHeron Wrote:I think the Oakville gig is priced the way it is because it is in the TO metro area. There are more people who are fans of the Hip, plus it is a 485 seat auditorium. I would expect prices to be higher in the TO area because there are more people who are fans of Gord and the Hip, thus more of a demand. I would be highly surprised and upset if they charged higher prices outside of the TO area, depending on the venue, because Gord and TCOM most likely will not sell out 5-10,000 seat venues by themselves. Besides, these days touring and selling merchandise at shows is what provides most mainstream and indie acts their living, not CDs. I would be surprised if The Grand Bounce, as awesome as it is, sells more than 150K records in Canada/US.150,000?

U2 usually have exceptionally reasonable ticket prices. When I saw them in 06 I payed 49$ and ended up second row centre.

"WATS" was certified at 80,000 sold: http://cria.ca/gold/0509_g.php
"Hipeponymous" @ 100,000; "Yer Favourites" @ 200,000. And I can't find any certification history for Downie's previous solo efforts... which suggests they never broke the 50,000 mark as that's where the certification starts.
I think that $70 is too much - I like the album, I'm a fan, and Oakville place is less than 30 minutes from my home, but I'm not buying tickets. I'll hold out for a cheaper festival, or club show.
