I just got back from a two week vacation in Europe.

Thanks!
My trip started in Amsterdam, then Frieburg, Germany; Salzburg, Austria; Vienna, Austria; Berlin, Germany; and then back to Amsterdam for the flight home.
I thought about asking some of the Hipbase members from Holland for a tour, but that idea died early on when Sabina threw a compliment my way. My cheeks flushed, and I lost track of the conversation. Typical for me. (Hipbasers Unite http://forum.hipbase.com/viewtopic.php?t...c&start=30)
I absolutely loved Amsterdam and Berlin; and Frieburg is an incredible university town!! I will definitely make a return visit.

Ahh true, too bad we weren't able to plan anything.
What did you like so much about Amsterdam? Did you go see any sights?

Amsterdam was more about the people that I met, rather than the cit itself, although it is quite wonderful.
I took a canal bus tour, went to the Rijks Museum, wandered through Vondelpark, Red light district, etc. I tried to hit all the tourist sites.
But I met two really great people an American, and an Aussie, who were backpacking Europe - and we had a ton of fun!!

True, Amsterdam is full of interesting people.
I'm glad you had a great time. One last question  Where did you stay? The Flying Pig??

Ask away Kim... I've got no secrets. The Flying Pig (both of 'em actually) looked a wee bit too shady for me. And the "Amsterdam has a mice problem" signs in the reception area told me to stay somewhere else. I stayed at the HI Hostel 'StayOkay Vondelpark' and it was excellent. Great staff, a totally kick-ass bartender, and a clean, safe environment.

Are there two in Amsterdam or you mean the one in Amsterdam and the other one by the beach? I've never actually been to any of The Flying Pigs but yes.. signs of shadiness and mice would definitely worry me.
Good thing you found a nice place to stay though and right by the Vondelpark too....
So confess! Did you go to any of the coffeeshops??

There are 3 Flying Pig's (downtown, the Palace, and the Beach) -I was just referring to the two in the city. As far as coffee shops go.... hmmmm.... hmmmm.... I am not a smoker at all, but I had to go and see what is was all about. The folks at Abraxas were friendly and helpful! :thumb:
