Where else in the world can you ALMOST get in to a country just by chatting to the border guard about The Hip and wearing a Vancouver Canucks hoodie?

Only problem is, I forgot my Green Card so he wasn't THAT accommodating............ back home I go Confusedcratch:
You know he would have let you through had you not been wearing a Canucks hoodie Wink jk
You should have flashed him a little something.

Thought about it. He was pretty easy on the eye - there are certainly worse pucks to have in your net.
Nicely played.

That could possibly be the best euphemism I have heard this year!

so I wrote a story replying to this...and it was never posted. :nooooo :nooooo
I'll try to find it on facebook...see if I have a version of it posted on there. but nothing was as epic as the one I wrote for you guys. it's a shame it wasn't posted!!
so here's a version of my story that I found on facebook. hope you all get a kick out of it!!

So it all started tuesday August 4th at Panera Bread. I checked my work schedule for wednesday and realized that I actually had the day off! So I asked my buddy Jim if he worked wednesday and he said no. Which led to me thinking that we should spend our day off in Canada! Then we remembered that my roommate Matt had to work and our Canada plans were quickly pushed aside for another day. When we got home Matt and I had a cleaning party since his mom was coming on up to visit. Afterward, Matt went to Coldstone with Jim for some ice cream and free wifi as I passed out on the couch half drunk with a Smirnoff in my hand watching United 93 (I know random movie). Around 430am I was rudely awakened by 2 very excited gay men exclaiming that we were going to Canada and that I needed to hurry up and get dressed. So I got up from the futon, knocked my drink all over myself and the floor and headed to my room to get ready. half an hour later we were packed and left for Canada.. fully knowing that we barely slept if not at all. We got to the border approximately 2 hours later. While crossing into the country, I turned on The Hip and blasted Ahead By A Century (my favorite Hip tune). The best Canadian song by the best Canadian band. Another 2 hours later and we were in Toronto. We walked around for a bit after parking near the CN tower and found a subway to eat at. We used the bathroom first hahaha which was surprisingly huge and beautiful for a one person restroom in a subway lol.

We had no Canadian money since there was no place open where we could exchange currencies. therefore, everything went onto the credit card!!! Big Grin the only money we had was $4 that our boss Chris gave me one night after sporadically finding it in his pocket. We ended up using that for something else. We left subway feeling full but slightly disgusted since the only employee there had told us that his girlfriend kicked him out and he ended up sleeping there and had very clearly not taken a shower yet. We headed over toward the CN tower. We were stopped by a very friendly Canadian woman who offered us a free map of Toronto. I gladly took it and explained to her that we had no time for a tour and needed to leave within an hour or two in order to get Matt home in time for work. LOL
She was amazed by our story, called us amazing people and kept making comments that she had never heard such a cool story. A friend of hers walked over to join in on the commotion and then offered to take us to the nearest gift shop so we could buy the biggest Canadian flag that we could find. After re-telling the story to the girl's friend, and buying not only one, but TWO GIANT Canadian flags, a pin, and a t-shirt, we headed towards the CN tower itself.
we took some touristy pictures of the 3 of us in front of the tower and figured that we better not spend any money going up to the top of it as it was bad enough that we spent $10 for parking. We walked around for a little bit more then decided to head home. I passed out shortly after getting in the backseat and woke up when we were close to the Falls. We wanted lunch. hahaha
So we parked, took some photos of the Falls as it was a BEAUTIFUL DAY and then headed towards the Hershey store. Looked around, got some free chocolate, eventually found the bathroom which was upstairs in this hotel lobby I guess you could call it then went back outside. Then we went to the Hard Rock Cafe and sat outside at the bar. Matt asked for a Long Island Iced Tea and Jim asked for a Green Slush Puppy since he'd never had one hahaha I didn't want to spend anymore money so I was going to just get water. The bartender didn't ID Matt and was asking me what I wanted to drink. So Matt and Jim gave me a look and I just said that I needed a menu. (I am turning 19 in a month.) She said "ok sweetie!" and walked away. I never got a menu hahaha and just ordered a Long Island Iced Tea as well. Apparently mine was bigger and better than Matt's hahahaha. We also got Onion Rings Big Grin
When we were done, it was really time to leave haha since Matt had to get to work!
So we got in the car and drove to the border. -_-

well, Border Patrol couldn't have given us any more trouble than they did! it started with Jim not having his passport and only having his birth certificate. they were not happy about that! then the guy went on about how it was weird that the car was from Florida in Jim's step-father's name, when we were from Rochester. THEEEEEEN he went on about how it was also weird that we were only in Canada for a couple of hours and only ended up buying 2 flags, food, a pin, and a shirt. So I guess that that was fishy enough for him to search the trunk. He found another license plate inside the trunk which was put there moments before we left Rochester since Jim wanted to put the new one his mom sent him on there and take the old one off. Of course we just had to put it in the trunk and make us look even more suspicious. He asked us the stupidest questions like what our majors were, if we ever did drugs, or drank etc. Pointless questions but I guess necessary if you were suspected of SMUGGLING DRUGS INTO THE US!!!!!!! He finally let us go, and I had forgotten that I left my iPod on shuffle. Turning on the radio, not only was the Hip playing, but coincidentally enough, Ahead By A Century was on. That was just awesome.

So then we headed for home FINALLY. If we weren't on a time crunch before we left Niagara, we definitely were on one now!!!! We pretty much sped the entire way back, except for the almost falling asleep at the wheel part and the peeing inside of a Burger King cup (*cough* Jim *cough* thank god I was asleep for that part) and the whole oooohhh I dunno RUNNING OUT OF GAS part!! yup.. we ran out of gas about 15 miles from my house. Matt ended up calling into work and got reassurance from our boss that he didn't need to come into work since we were over in hours anyway so that wasn't such a worry anymore. We still felt awful about it though. So my best friend Jenn and her mom came and gave us some gas and we went to the nearest station, got some more then went home and pretty much just passed out after making a pit stop at Burger King to tell all of our friends about our crazy day. We will NEVER FORGET IT!!! It was an amazing day with amazing weather in an amazing country with some amazing friends. We can't wait to go again! but this time it will definitely be better planned and for longer! Wink

WOO CANADA!!!!!!!! :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:
