So sad. Guy was only 59 and made some of my favorite comedies of all time: Breakfast Club, Planes Trains & Automobiles, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Weird Science...the list goes on and on. Not to mention he wrote the screenplay for arguably the greatest holiday movie of all time, National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation.
R.I.P. John. The 80s wouldn't have been the same without ya.

I was just coming on here to post this, really too bad. I don't know what growing up in the 80's would have been like without his movies. He gave me a ton of memories from my teenage years, good and bad.

John Hughes was a great director and a great screenwriter.
Ferris Bueller is arguably the best teen movie ever made; if it weren't for the weakness of the Sloane character, it would be a perfect screenplay.

His movies were real. He knew kids and made movies about and for teenagers with sympathy and humor. I think he will stand as one of the great American film directors. Sixteen Candles is my favorate. Farmer Ted and long Duck Dong are two of the best chracters ever created IMO.
