My mother lives in a condo community that backs onto an open field - unclaimed, unimproved land. For the last 14 years the residents of her community have routinely dumped their grass and yard clippings in the field. My mom has a lawn/yard care company take care of her property so she's never had reason to go into the field. Until last night. One of the mini hedges in her garden died so she cut it out, chopped it into small pieces and went over to the field to dispose of it.
On her way back she was confronted by a man who got right in her face, put his hand in her face to stop her from talking and/or walking away and then verbally assaulted her - questioning her about who she is, why she is there, etc, etc.
My mom is five feet tall, weighs 102lbs and wouldn't hurt a fly. The man is six feet tall, retired, well-heeled, and an ass.
Another neighbour was brought to tears listening to this man attack my Mom - she couldn't even come out an help. A couple of the other neighbours saw my mom walking home, crying and shaken, and came out to find out what happened. They "had a talk" with the jerk, but I'm still pissed.
I live in Toronto, she's in Kingston, and she just called me to tell me about what a terrible week she had. What should I do about this jerk?
I got no plans next weekend...Let's Roll!
1) road trip
2) locate asshole
3) set him straight , without any shadow of a doubt what he's getting himself into
4) take mom for dinner and tell her how much she means to you
hope you get this taken care of Chris...no ones mom deserves to be treated that way
What should YOU do about him? That depends on your temperament. Have you ever been in a fight? Does the thought of fighting another human scare you? Excite you? Make you nervous? The guy deserves to be punched in the face. If you're not the violent type, I'd say you should get someone who is the violent type (when it's justified) to have a "talk" with the guy. :rambo: I know that some people like to follow the law and not get into physical confrontations with others, and I actually think that fighting is kind of a juvenile thing to do normally. HOWEVER, there are cases where it's really worth getting in a fight. Family is family.
if any guy ever did that to my mom, my fist would be saying hello to his grill, irregardless of the consequence. :rambo:
I got pissed just reading this! I would have to pay my Mom a visit real soon. Bring bail money, because if you're like me you just might have to beat his ass. Don't let anyone talk to your mother like that!
Thanks everyone. I'll be having a chat with him the next time I'm in Kingston. In the meantime, I think the condo board president (a retired high ranking military dude who still commands respect - if even just from the way he walks; and my Moms next door neighbour, and the guy who told my Mom to put the clippings into the field) is going to call the jackass on his actions at tonight's weekly clubhouse get together. (I wish I could be there to watch this turd squirm in the spotlight in front of the rest of the community...)
A trip home is planned - but with a wife who's at full term this week we don't want to stray too far from home until the baby is born.
I would stab this fucker in the face.
I'd give him so many rights, he'd beg for a left.
I've always believed that fighting solves nothing....but this guy deserves to be kicked in the nuts repeatedly.

Ditto, every single word!
I tell you, the only reason some people have for living is just to be an ass to everyone around them. Then as they get older, they just turn into bigger asses.
This just reminded me, yesterday morning I took my 10 year old daughter out to yard sales (she loves digging through stuff and finding little bargains). Anyways we went to this one and old man was having and he had a crate full of DVD's. So my daughter came across "Cheaper By The Dozen" with a $5.00 price tag. So, politely she took it up to him and asked if $3.00 was ok. The guy looked at her with this look of disgust, said no, grabbed the movie from her hand, turned around and walked away. I just couldn't believe my eyes how this old bastard was treating a 10 year old little girl, she was almost in tears from how he reacted. We were the only ones there, I really felt like drop kicking the guy in the back and telling my daughter to help herself to as many movies as she could carry back to the car. But being a responsible parent.............ah I should have done it anyways.

Mistake. You have one side of the story, and he's legally within his rights. Let the condo board president handle him. Any confrontation you create here, you'll be in the wrong if the cops show up, and after you walk away, the situation will only be worse for your mom. You want to escalate it, this is how.
Responses on this thread make me laugh. People are so tough from behind their keyboards, where we always win the fights we start and the other guy never gets the drop on us. Dumbest Canuck's going to stab him in the face -- yeah. How many people have you actually stabbed, there, tough guy?
I gotta agree with the skipster on this one (all this 'agreeing with skip' is starting to get a little boring).
Guy certainly deserves an ass beatin', but that doesn't mean you should do it, or even consider confronting this guy. If he's the type that will dress-down someone like your mother, then you already KNOW he has issues, and probably doesn't have a rational bone in his body. Meeting this guy face-to-face for a 'chat' will almost certainly fail to result in anything positive -- and will probably result somthing negative.
Somewhere down the line, some meathead who probably has much less to lose than you do will be happy to rearrange that dude's face. Let somebody else assume the risks associated with physical altercation. In the meantime, you might want to personally make a call to that condo board pres. to express how concerned and pissed you are. An extra nudge from a concerned son might help bump it up his list of priorities.
Violence wont fix it although it is deserved here. Take a ride and leave a package. See if anybody still stomps on a burning bag of shit anymore. If you do, film it, I would love a good laugh.
Also Chris, thanks for the screen saver from Sat. show. By the looks of it, you were not far from me. I was in Aisle 2, row AA seats 127/129, right on the aisle, perfect seats. I could get a beer and back before hte next song started.
