Hey Guys,

If you are interested, one of my images from the show at the Danforth Music Hall is critiqued by famous photographer, David duChemin, author of Within The Frame.

The Podcast is up on PeachPit TV, and can be found by following this link. If you have about 5 minutes, have a look!

I'm pretty much on cloud nine right now as I really enjoyed David's book and I really respect his opinion. It's a very cool feeling to be honoured in this way!

Anyways, here is the image:

Great shot.
And what is it with your pictures and the arms raised V shot?

That's really cool!

Congratulations Trevor :thumb:
Wow Trevor, that's an honor indeed!

I know you're damn proud, and you should be. You do some extremely fine work.
very cool... well done sir
That is splendid Trevor, congratulations! I know nothing about photography but really enjoyed David's comments in terms of the dynamic between foreground and background, and the intersection of moments between the fan and Gord. Nicely done.

Congratulations, I hope to see a book of your Hip work someday. They say that praise makes good people better and bad people worse. It's cool that he offered honest constructive criticism regarding the exposure of the shirt but I disagree with him on that point. I think it works. The brightness adds to a sense of illumination. The radiance of the guys on stage is the essence of what is inspiring that multiple headed Hipfan into his pose. I have a pet peeve with people making the devil sign at shows. I understand its customary and it also functions as a physical gesture that reflects energy. At least that's what the Italians invented it for. Personally I prefer the Peace sign but I acknowledge it lacks the iconic nature of the devil horns. I digress. He was dead on when he said iconic. Oh yeah, and don't crop the head room. It adds volume to the shot as it moves to the left with Gordie on his mad march.
Thanks everyone for your thoughts and comments!

No modding of the image will be done. I like the blown highlights in Gord's shirt. I could have recovered them in post but decided against it because I think it draws the eye to where I want the viewer to be: dead set on Gord's timeless expression.

And in terms of a book, well, there are a couple of copies floating around out there but it's almost time for an update. I guess that would be a second edition :thumb: . I've got some great new material that needs to be added!

Anyways, thanks for taking the time to view the podcast and leaving your cc's here. Much appreciated!

Cheers!

Thanks for the compliments! Much appreciated!

The Gage Park those pics were taken in was actually Gage Park in Brampton, not the one in Hamilton (although I'm sure it's just as beautiful!)

Cheers!

I shoot a Canon Rebel XT. What are you using?

Canon 5D with some pro glass. High quality glass is key.

And for all the non-photo nerds, glass = lenses. :thumb:
