I wrote this up as a bit of self indulgence. Thought some of you might enjoy. A bit different than some other systems.

Have fun in Kingston to whoever is going.

Quote:For fun, shits and giggles, etc. I have put together some tour stats. I will update maybe every 10 shows or so. I wanted to wait to do the first one once a good chunk of data had been compiled.

When we look at the "big picture" I am going to break everything down into two sections. One will consist of only We Are the Same material and the other will include everything else. Obviously as the touring album it is going to pull said number of slots at each show regardless.

v.1 Stats are from 04/24/2009 - 05/19/2009 (16 shows)

We Are the Same

Total Plays:

1. The Last Recluse (16) - Never missed. 8 first sets, 7 second sets, 1 encore

T2. The Depression Suite (15) - Only show not played was 4/29/2009. All appearances have been in the first set except for 5/7/2009 where it appeared mid-second set.

T2. Struggle (15) - After missing the Danforth show it has been a constant part of the rotation. 8 first sets, 6 second sets, 1 encore.

T4. Morning Moon (14) - 11/14 have come in the first set

T4. Love Is A First (14) - see Morning Moon ^^^

6. Coffee Girl (12) - 4 first sets, 8 second sets.

T7. Honey, Please (8) - Played in the first 6/8 shows to start the tour but has cooled off since appearing in only 2 of the last 8 shows. 6 of the 8 have been in the first set.

T7. Frozen In My Tracks (8) - Didn't show up in the setlist until 4/29/2009 making Frozen the last song to be played live on this tour from WATS. 3 of 8 have been encores.

T9. The Exact Feeling (6) - Has never appeared in the first set. 1 encore.

T9. Speed River (6) - 2 first sets, 4 second sets.

11. Queen of the Furrows (5) - Started slow showing up in the first 2 of 9 shows but has since appeared in 3 of the last 7. 4 of 5 have been in the second set.

12. Country Day (4) - Disappeared for 9 shows 4/29 - 5/15. I don't get it.

0.00% Should I bother?????????

Kinda neat looking at these numbers. If you're a Day For Night fan for example, it's nice to see that they have played almost 60% of the album contents. On the other hand the numbers show that on average you may see 2 of these songs per show, but it is also quite possible that you may get none.

IVL makes up less than 3% of the live material put forward this tour, yet I saw 3/4 that they have done from this album during a segment of the Massey run.

I'm interested to see what songs will be on the "one time played list" by the end of the tour. Always nice to catch one of those, especially if they hold.

Notable absences this tour: Fire in the Hole, Summer's Killing Us, Vaccination Scar, Heaven, Silver Jet, Use It Up, 38 Years Old, Looking For A Place to Happen, and Cordelia.

I'll keep adding to the info, so check in regularly. Maybe every 10 to 15 shows. Feedback is always appreciated. Just hit the "Post Comment" button.

Nice work - this is very interesting :thumb:
Yes I agree. Very good post.
Do you work for Stats. Canada?
Great Job Jack!!! Thanks for the info.
What no bar graphs and pie charts Sad
- great post that is a breakdown I can understand :thumb: :thumb:

Yeah, these stats are pretty nuts. Really wish they'd play more IVL songs, though. Always have but now that I see these pitiful numbers it makes me more and more depressed... At least they're playing TDC again.
:thumb: great stats
Notables missing: 38 and Cordelia.
These two surprise me as well considering MAv mentioned he saw them practicing these songs during rehearsals.

Maybe they just didn't like the way they were sounding and shelved them?
Thanks so much for posting those stats. It is a really good resource for me because I am going to a show soon with one friend of mine who has never heard The Hip before and wants me to burn a disc for her so she knows some of the songs they will play on this tour.

I had no idea where to start because obviously the set lists aren't going to gel with what my favourite songs are necessarily. So thanks, you did most of the work for me. Yer great!!! :thumb:
what the hell is up with NO fire in the hole? dammit!

VioletLite,

You should sign up with Hiptracker. There are some nice torrents from this tour. A new listener won't be too picky about setlists, so I would recommend the 5/16/2009 Massey Hall show. It's a pretty high quality recording.

Have fun at the shows.

Saving them for Detroit and Cleveland?!?!
